Or his injury had something to do with it.

haha yeah, cause KF and company pull offers from kids with injuries in high school. laughable.

DeAndre Johnson-- ACL
Cole Fisher- ACL
Maurice Fleming- ACL

I'm sure there are others that I can't think of right now, but that's never stopped KF and co from keeping them on scholarship.

My thoughts exactly. I think you can add Torrey Campbell to that list as well if I remember right. And credit to the kid, it sounds like he is still going to push forward and fight for the position at Iowa. I don't fault someone for making a mistake and then owning the consequences. How many other kids would run somewhere else and talk about how it isn't fair...

I didn't know about Campbell. If so it must not have been that serious because I saw him practicing this fall, and he ran track in Florida last spring.

Maybe a combination of both. I wonder if KF would pull a scholly from a 5 star kid with the same baggage? Its a misdemeanor and far less severe than a DUI.

if you are driving high/impaired on drugs or alcohol i believe it is equally severe.

I doubt it, but none of the 3 guys I mentioned were 5*, and I believe Fisher was a 2 or maybe a low 3* guy, and Johnson and Fleming both 3*, so I think it was that he didn't have a solid offer anyway and committed, or the drug stuff, with DJK is a big deal to the program.

Again, I'd reference the above list - which of them are 5 stars? They are the two star, three star variety (Flemming is a four star on ESPN) the exact same ranking that Malloy has/had. Further, according to the article, he should be able to get up to full speed in the next two months, so they could make that determination at that time.

I give credit to the staff. If someone shows they have an ability to show poor judgment, you have to treat that situation differently. Malloy still has the chance to succeed at Iowa, but he is going to have to demonstrate improvement in this area. Saying that it has to do with his injury just is not supported by historical fact with this staff.

From the article it sounds like he did have a solid offer:

"According to his high school coach, Class of 2012 athlete Michael Malloy does not have the scholarship offer from Iowa that led to his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes in July."

The coach could be wrong, but it sounds like the offer was made, and that Iowa has revised that given the circumstances.

Re: Malloy a walk-on at first

Me thinks that he ends up going to one of the Dakota schools.. and that is pure speculation on my part.
