Shoff - SIAP

verballed to South Dakota State?

waiting around for a Nebraska offer was the reason he was supposedly holding Iowa off and he commits to SDS?

Something not adding up there.....

I think we pulled his offer. Not 100% on that though.

Go from BCS school to 1AA? Yeah, that is weird. Makes you wonder if he got in some trouble or something.

Wow, that is odd. Go from an offer to Iowa to SDSU?

Re: Shoff - SIAP

I believe he was injured his junior year and people were expecting him to return to his pre injury form. He never progressed like expected, and his offers began to get pulled.

Iowa gave him an ultimatum and he took the wrong one I guess. Do you really want a kid that would wait for Nebby over Iowa, even if Iowa had the offer and Nebby might let you walk on. I'm not upset about this at all.

I think Nebraska is expecting Andrus Peat to commit, and they would not offer Shoff until that was not going to happen. Everyone in the recruiting world expects Peat to go there, so no surprise. Shoff has not moved along in his development, although I am surprised someone did not take a chance at the BCS level. He is 6-6, 300, and a great wrestler to boot. Their is a good big athlete there, and someone could have done something with that.

hmmm, that is strange. What is so great about the atmosphere at SDSU that you would jump at the offer after you had an offer to play at Iowa?

What gives with this guy? He was committed to Kansas like a month ago? What happened there?

Stop taking these recruiting databases as the gospel. All databases are self-reported. Kids might over-report offers. Also databases do not update the offers. Recruiting is cyclical--offers come and go. This kid might have had an Iowa offer in the summer, but he certainly didn't have an offer this fall. He didn't have a Kansas offer either, otherwise he would have went there.

Same thing happened to Andre Dawson a few years ago. He may have had a few offers at one point, but they were certainly short-lived, hence why he originally went to UNI.
