Team Recruiting Rankings

Outside of Michigan and Ohio State it's yet another excellent showing by B1G teams with Nebraska coming in at 29th. Probably the most alarming is back-to-back B1G champion Wisconsin. They're pulling a nice class ranked 47th in the nation according to Rivals.

Vanderbilt makes the 8th and final SEC school in the top 25 Rivals ranking. Vanderbilt has a better class than everyone in the B1G except Michigan and Ohio State... Vanderbilt and then the 7 SEC schools ahead of Vanderbilt.

how about chizer and his class of 43 kids? impressive. year to year scholarships are where it is at, i don't care what they say about oversigning. kids are given too much the way it is...

Oversigning is bad. There's no excuse for Wisconsin to be 47th though.

I think the loss of the QB and RB who made them what they were this year, plus the mass exodus of assistant coaches, might have something to do with it.

Agreed on the assistant coaches, however Montee Ball is returning for his senior season.

Re:Team Recruiting Rankings

If your not in the top 5 for recruiting classes, does it really matter where your ranked? Do rankings matter at all? IMO all it does is provide sports junkies something to talk about in the offseason.

Miami and Cincy are hauling in 65 kids between the 2 of them...my guess is that they're just getting into the flow of things for an upcoming jump to the SEC...

Re: Team Recruiting Rankings

also on rivals they just got deducted 31 pts for the Meier commit, dropping from 805 pts to 774. just another point of proof how phony the rankings are,

I have to wonder how bright some parents are when they allow their kids to go into situations like these. Guess everyone always thinks it is the other guy who will be eventually ran off to make room for more over signing.

Re: Team Recruiting Rankings

If you get ESPN the Mag, there is an interesting article about how "Stars" don't correlate to wins and coaching still really matters more. I couldn't find a link to the online article, but here is a blog talking about the article. The original article is well worth its short read.

I also question why the NCAA continues to let it happen year after year without penalty.

Re: Team Recruiting Rankings

the big mistake by the NCAA was letting the conference to bypass these standards, they should have made it 25 per year period no exceptions, but the problem is who know what they would use as an inducement in getting kids to walk on

It makes me wonder how the ACC and Big 10 fell so far behind that a dozen kids would rather fight for a roster spot at Auburn rather than star someplace with snow.
