Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
Ross Piersbacher was the OL MVP of the Champaign Nike Football Training Camp today. He was the only 2014er to be a positional MVP at the camp, although elite 2013 lineman Kyle Bosch (Michigan commit) pulled out of the camp at the last minute. Still, it is quite the honor for Piersbacher.
Also, Piersbacher badly needs a nickname. His name is tough to remember how to spell.

Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
I have now created a recruiting map for the 2014 class as well. In light of the fact that there are fewer players thus far in this class, I was able to be more precise with the placement of each player's location.

Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
I'm slightly concerned that the hawks have missed so many of their top targets in 2013 that it could be a recruiting year similar to 2008-2009. Hope not but who knows. I'm hoping that getting an early start in 2014 is going to help. They are in on a lot of OL, especially OT, which the hawks could use and seem to be standing well with them. Hope they can have a good season and spark recruiting next year and finish strong this year.

Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
Overall, 2013 was a weak year for recruits out of the midwest.. likely why Iowa has so few 4*s left on their board.
Couple that with Michigan's utter dominance early on..
2014 should spring some better chances and hopefully, solidifying out class earlier this year leads to longer recruiting of the 2014 crop.

Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
They have 9 out of 22 or 23. That is 14 they still need to fill and most of their top targets are gone. Look back to 08-09 and you will see there were some really good ones in there, but not a lot of them like the last 2 years, there has been pretty good quality all the way through. Now, I don't think it will be that bad, but the reason Iowa football goes in cycles is because their recruiting has gone in cycles. If they can be more consistent like the last 2 years, then the team will likely be more consistent as well on the field.

Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
I actually think this class is likely to be ranked higher than either of the last two years. The coaching staff maybe will land 1 or 2 fewer top targets, but they're also not going to have to dip into the reserves for as many recruits this year. Thinking of recruiting classes in economic terms, this year will have a very, very large middle class; the last three classes had a pretty wide gap between the rich and the poor; and the 08-09 classes were mostly filled with the poorer end.

Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers
I understand what you are saying, but what is middle, is it just 3*? When we get the low 3*, guys ranked 100+ at their position is that really that good. Last year we had a few 4*, a few 2* but the 3* were very good ones. I'm not sure we will get to that level. Especially when you look at some important positions like OL, RB, WR, and TE. I'm sure it will be better than 2008-2009 but i'm not sure as good as last year. hope i'm wrong.

I think 5.7s are a world of difference when compared to 5.5s and a good number of 5.6s..
In fact, you never know.. Iowa talent could get re-evaluated after the season and a couple 5.7s could get bumped..
