I judge the class when they graduate from Iowa. That is when you know if it was successful or not. It doesn't matter what stars a player has if Iowa gets them or not. If they come to Iowa they do, if they don't they don't.

Height and weight are nice, but when judging highschool players they don't always tell you that much.

    6'3" 200 lb WR
    5'8" 180 lb DB
    6'7"230lb TE
    6'5" 300 DL
    6'6" 290 OL
    6'1" 230 DE

Now if you looked just at that you would love some of their measureables but wouldn't like some of the other ones
    Don Shumpert 3*
    Bob Sanders 2*
    Robert Gallery 2*
    Carl Davis 3*
    Dan Doering 5*
    Mike Daniels 2*

I'm not saying that stars don't matter and that it isn't nice to have guys with good measurables, but they don't always tell the whole story on players. Of course I've cherry picked these examples, but you do it all the time, so its ok. So when you come on here and tell me that we are recruiting a WR that is 6'4", 220 lbs, well he could be the next Calvin Johnson, or the Higsby. I don't know. That's why though it is nice to say, yeah we got that guy and he's a 4*, it doesn't matter until he's playing on the field at Kinnick.
I don't cherry pick like you do
when it came to the DL and OL i make it appointn of posting all three
    Johnson 4* 6'4 300 lbs
    Ekakitie 4* 6'3 275 lbs
    is not cherry picking
as soon as ESPN updates their stats I will too

again stars do matter as it gives a pretty good indicator of what type of talent we are getting.
Doering didn't pan out so what it happens,
4* Claybourne and 4* Ballard did just fine, Claybourne ended up a 1st Rnd draft pick
stars givev a very good indicator of the type of talent Iowa is getting.
this years SR class was rated 63rd by Rivals and 75th by Scout, ESPN post just the top 25 until this year when they started posting the top 40.
looks like those poorly rated class came back to hurt Iowa this year

If you don't like Redhawk55 or just that he misspelled Adrian's last name that is one thing but no need to call names.

At least he isn't like the others that call Kirk - Kurt or Brian - Brain just for fun. He made a mistake, no need to flip on him and call names.

Plus he is right, it is against the rules too. Without rules rebels like FreedComanche will take over, no one wants that!

Quick update on DB Duke Dawson. He has announced that he will choose between Florida and Florida State and will make his decision on January 8.

    Re: Tracking 2014 Class Offers

as for KF getting 5* OL , he did get 5* Doering out of Illinois and he did get 5* Larson out of Iowa,
so the Idea that KF "can't" get top ranked OL recruits has been over stated. even Blythe and Walsh were highly rated 4*'s as both were rated in the top 10 at their position when they commited.
even Ward last spring signee was a Army AA..
when ot come to getting OL recruits I am not worried as long as KF is still the coach.
Reiff was a 3* DE who switched to LT and ended up a 1st round Draft pick and left a year early.
it is the skill players that needed the upgrade in recruiting. but to get Pierschbacher would be a huge get both for ranking and national attention.
ESPN having Iowa with a top 25 class ranking has the media people talking about Iowa more. and it all comes from having a top 25 class,
and you need high ranked *'s to make a top 25 class.

Interesting article from a Rivals site talking about Greg Davis recruiting in Texas, and how that work recently led to a new 2014 offer at WR.HawkeyeReport.com - Iowa's Greg Davis recruitng efforts strengthening Central Texas

Dace was also a 5* and would've been a stud had he not always been injured.

He was an absolute BEAST as a true freshman, and saw significant PT one of the best offenses of the KF era. That guy had literally unlimited potential.

Even in 2009, when he was finally healthy (although probably only about 60-75% of what he could have been), he was still pretty damn good.
    Response to Coker Thread hater:

This thread was born from humble beginnings. A simple question was asked, and d-bag decided to answer it in a condescending manner. We then proceeded to chastise him. Since then a myriad of topics have ranged from the sensible (Who would win in jousting, Tony Mo or Moped Man?), to the ludicrous (STATE actually landing an attractive woman ). You sir, are a clonebag, attempting to bring us down! This will not be permitted nor tolerated. RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!!

This. Was a midseason All-American and then went down at MSU with a foot/ankle injury.
