Excellent update. Thank you. I hate to see that Kouandjio is a no shot, but oh well. Glad to see all the guys that we do have a shot with, and hope that we get some great commits soon.

hawkfarmer -

The remarks about whether we have a shot or not is a bit of guesswork. I too would love to see us land Kouandjio, however, I'd be absolutely shocked if he doesn't follow his brother to Alabama.

Re: Tracking 2011 class offers

Also, everybody is encouraged to share info in this thread so that I can update the list. For instance, if somebody has info that we have a good shot with "recruit X" ... then I'll happily update the list with the most current info.

For instance, I also know that Iowa fans would love for us to also land Coe and French ... however, neither guy is a "lay-up" for us. We have a shot ... however, we'll have to see how their recruitment works out.

Wow, how do you know all this info on NEXT year's recruits already?! It will be interesting to see if we get a lot of early commits like we did last summer.

Homer,
Great list and thanks for putting this together. Where is French leaning towards? Please tell me it isn't ND. Also, seems like we are going against ND and tosu on alot of these recruits, you could also throw in Neb as well. I'm confident this staff will take care of biz.

Re: Tracking 2011 class offers

I was in Omaha couple weeks ago and read Nebraska already had 4 OL commits. Not sure what they think of Sterup but would think they would be close to finished with OL recruiting. Hopefully it works out well for Iowa.

The bigger issue might be, "Who isn't French considering?"

The one advantage that Iowa has is that we're recruiting him on O and we have a great rep for developing TEs. The problem that we may have with him is that it doesn't necessarily seem like he grew up loving the Hawks.

I'm not saying that we're not going to land French ... I'm just saying that it's no lay-up.

BTW ... does anybody know what team French grew up following the most closely?

SLarew -

As I recall Nebraska has taken on a good number of OTs in their prior recruiting class too. Thus, I really anticipate that they might not be able to offer Sterup until late in the process.

What would suck for Iowa is if Nebraska is able to fill up their recruiting class early in the summer. If they're able to do that ... then they'd be able to know if they'd be able to offer him or not.

Of course, it's possible that he might go to their camp and they decide that he doesn't necessarily fit their OL-system.

DYK88 -

The lists of guys are already out there on scout's and rival's respective databases. As for the annotations ... they simply come from keeping a pretty close eye on the recruiting game.

BTW ... it appears to be a pretty good year talent-wise in the state of Ohio ... so Iowa might be able to capitalize there. Also, Illinois has a pretty nice slew of O-linemen too. If Iowa can't get Walsh and/or Sterup ... then some of those guys might become options too (like the McAvoys and Flavin).

Also, I think that we'll get Gaines ... and between Gaines, Martin-Manley, Gray, and Carl Davis ... I think that we'll be able to use that to our advantage in recruiting Michigan too.

Anybody notice there are only 2 Iowa boys on there? We usually see at least 30-40% right?

This is what he does, all day, every day.

Sometimes he goes the entire day without sleep, or eating.
