3 teams from the weak Big 12 in top 9 of new coaches poll.
How many teams from the powerful Big Ten made that same top 9?
Ok...that's trolling a bit...but there IS a point. For all the ridicule of the Big 12 here, there are 3 top 10 teams from that conference...none of whom are Texas, the big enchilada of the league. Further, there's 2 more teams in the top 25 from the Big 12.
Overall, by any remotely objective measure, the Big 12 looks like a VERY strong conference indeed.

...and once agin, ISU has NOTHING to do with it, except boosting those "3 top ten teams" further up the polls by being counted as an auntomatic W for them when calculating their end of the year records.
While the B10 once again looks extremely strong depth through the 8th-9th team, allowing the top B10 fewer automatic Ws and end of the year poll boosts than they would have if ISU was in the conference.

Isn't there 5 teams from the Big 10 in the top 25 as well? OU is the best team among the two conferences. It's tough to tell who is best among the next tier.

Re: 3 teams from the weak Big 12 in top 9 of new coaches poll.
Texas was ranked #5 in the preseason last year. Florida was ranked #4. Iowa was ranked #9. All three teams finished outside of the top 25.
It's a preseason top 25, which is completely meaningless in terms of how good a team actually is. On top of that, A&M is a chronic underachiever. I would bet just about anything that they do not look as tough by the end of the season as they do now.

Congrats. And yes, you are trolling big time here. Pre-season rankings IMHO mean nothing. I don't think there is any doubt Oklahoma is solid this year, beyond that I'm not sold on anything at this point. Always good discussion though. Let's wait til the BCS comes out and then we'll talk.

Who cares, it is the PRESEASON poll, now if 3 teams from the Big 12 FINISH in the top 10 then come back with this, didn't Texas start in the top 10 last year? Also you used a keyword that I put in bold for you.

Ummm....and Iowa has nothing to do with the Big Ten's top 25 situation either. Hawks didn't make the cut there...nor did ISU, admittedly.

Please don't lump Iowa and ISU together like were both ranked somewhere in the 80s.

Re: 3 teams from the weak Big 12 in top 9 of new coaches poll.
Everone with common sense understands the B12 isn't weak because of its on the field product, its weak because power and money isn't shared equally throughout the league. I realize the common sense thing excludes you.

He said nothing about the top 25, he did include our depth as a conference using the other receiving votes as a tool.
If he just stated in his post that Iowa St has nothing to do with it you still could have responded, "so our conference looks tough." So he included that our conference has more depth top to bottom. Those eliminating that comeback.

...and this is what Cyclone fans get to brag about. Great job at having some decent teams in your conference Iowa State! Go get yourself a win lil bro.

Actually, Iowa does. Reread my post. ISU is being counted as an automatic W for all the top B12 teams, thus inflating their end of the year records. Iowa, ranked 30, is being counted a possible L for some of them, thus lowering their predicted record at the end of the year, and consequently their preseason rankings as well.
