Anyone else reading Big XII Message Boards?
I must have too much time to waste. I have checked out a number of Big XII boards to get a sense of where the fan bases are at with a possible loss of Texas A&M. The sentiments range between boards and within boards.
Overall I would say Kansas State and Iowa State are the most willing to accept the Big XII as it is. Adding a team to replace A&M is acceptable in order to keep the conference alive. Also adding two teams not in an AQ conference to get to twelve would be fine.
Then there are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Kansas. They sense that the handwriting is on the wall for the Big XII and you read criticism of the U of Texas role in creating problems. You seem to sense that the fan base could accept a conference change if it lead to more stability. They are divided about which conference to approach.
Tech fans seem to be hoping to hitch their wagon to the Okie's and Kansas to go out west to the PAC 12.
Missouri is the stealth school. Can't get a handle those guys. Mostly they know that someone will want them so why worry.
Texas fans, well they are Texas fans. As the overseer of the conference nothing to worry about.
Baylor, who cares.
What is your sense if you have been visiting other boards?

Re: Anyone else reading Big XII Message Boards?
OU won't leave Texas. Texas won't leave its sweetheart deal in the Big 12. Neither TTech, Baylor nor OSU will move without Texas and Okie...so they're locked in. And Mizzou has not only said they want nothing to do with the SEC...they have been very vocal and leading the charge on adding to the conference and sticking together.
Fans on the boards discuss options...absolutely. But, in a spin off of the old Clinton axiom, "Its all about Texas, stupid."

The way things are looking to play out, it does look like everything you said is true, except for the mizzou statement, if the sec or big ten offered mizzou they'd be gone tomorrow and your dellusional if you think otherwise.

I didn't realize missouri was leading the charge for Big XII unity. They must have had a change of heart after stepping on their dicks last summer when their begging to get into the Big Ten was denied.

I have read many threads in which ISU fans said the same thing About A&M. "They won't leave." "Nobody wants them." I think this is just wishful thinking on their part. It may not be tomorrow but sooner or later more schools will be exiting the Big12.

Time will tell...but either way, the Big 12 is geared up and strong for its next 100 years. If the Big Ten is also strong and content...awesome.
Don't see what the problem is here.

That's a nice quote, and very true still today. Texas A&M, if it departs, doesn't change that at all...the conference will add a better and more loyal team to fill that void...like BYU.

Big Ten, yes. SEC, no. They have been adamant about denying the SEC rumors, something they were not when the Big Ten was looking to add last year. They want to keep their regional games, and they want to continue to build their football brand. Pinkel knows that if they wind up in the SEC, he is a few years away from getting fired. They are not idiotic like A/M.

BYU just left their conference to go independent, how is that loyal?

Missouri leaving for the SEC? Nope. Haven't you heard their AD? I know they want to come to the Big 10 and I don't blame them. We have it made here

BYU is not joining the B12. BYU did not go independent to join a conference that is in danger of falling apart one year later.
I don't understand where this pipe dream is coming from, or why you folks continue to believe it.

Re: Anyone else reading Big XII Message Boards?
Its coming, Shada, from talks between the Big 12 and BYU. No, you will not see them in the news, as neither side wants it to be public knowledge at this stage. Yes, the sources for this stuff are guys like Chip Brown at orangebloods.com
These sources are frequently leaked good information and they have close ties with the school administrators...in most cases. Yes, they occasionally go too far and speculate beyond the information they've been given...but they do have a good track record of getting pretty good information....much like our own Jon Miller.
