Big 12 looking at BYU, Notre Dame.....and...Pitt to join conference.

Orangebloods.com - A&M, Big 12 talk Saturday about what exit will look like

These guys at orangebloods are closely connected with the UT President's office and usually have good information. I'd love to see Pitt join the conference...unlike Nebraska, they're an AAU school and their presence would open up the East to Big 12 recruiting. Things are looking up!

FYI, much of the talk about ND is suggesting they might join in everything but football...as they are now with the Big East...and the stay independent in football until they see what the BCS/contract situation looks like in 2015 (when both their TV contract and the Big 12's are due for renewal).

Very interesting developments.

Well...BYU seems to already be a yes. We'll see how it goes with the other two...this morning, a statement was released from the Texas Tech President saying the replacements would "shock" the media. So who knows.

Pitt vs Baylor,K St.,OK St. or Texas Tech...natural rivalries,obviously.

Pitt would be insane to do this. ND and Pitt to the Big Ten is the only possibility for them that makes any sense.

If you define stupid as "making a lot more money", than yes...it would be a stupid move for ND and Pitt.

An ND schedule could go something like this:

Michigan
Southern Cal
Navy
Boston College
Michigan State
Texas Tech
Oklahoma
Kansas
Pittsburgh
Texas
Oklahoma State
Missouri

That's a heckuva schedule...and a very traditional one for Notre Dame. Add in that they get to have their own network (potentially a 300 million dollar bonanza) AND be a part of the conference network payouts...as Texas is doing. Its nearly all positives for the Irish.

As for Mizzou...their leadership has been leading the charge for holding the conference together...and calling for expansion, which they are going to get it seems.

Hey goofy, ND can play anyone they want. Nobody would turn down a game with them if they asked. I think the B12 would be better off trying to pick a few out of the smaller conf's. Pitt has a good relationship with the B10 and so does ND. I dont think you want to pizz off the B10 or they will force TX to go independent by going after a couple of the better B12 teams, gyess what that wont be ISU. At that point you will be homeless. So if your a fan of ISU, you might want to hope the B12 does not step on the B10's toes.

Even if the Big 12 gets BYU, Houston, and SMU, the clowns will still be the doormat of the Big 12. BYU joining doesn't really involve the clowns because they have NO say in what is done in the Big 12. Texas will decide whether BYU joins; if Texas sees BYU as a threat to their money making abilities, Texas won't allow BYU to join. The Big 12 commissioner will ask Texas' permission about letting other schools join. The clowns have no say in the matter...they just tag along because they have NO choice.

Notre dame is not joining the big 12. If they join any conference they will join either the Big 10 (where the money is) or the Big Least, where their men's and women's teams are members.

All the conferences want Notre Dame so the big 12 telling the media that they are pursuing ND is very wishful thinking, wishful thinking indeed. Now they might set up a Thanksgiving game with Texas but Texas is the only team in the Big 12 that will play ND regularly.

What is funny is that they claim BYU is going to join. BYU was the Texas of the Mountain West and wanted to tell the rest of the league what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. They got their panties in a bunch when Utah was invited to join the Pac12. There was no way that the Pac 12 was ever going to invite BYU, especially with their religious affiliations.

So the Big 12 will have Texas AND BYU...two teams that don't want to play nice and really don't want to share anything with other teams in the conference.

BYU joining the big 12 just means that they move up with Texas and Oklahoma because of their name. Not sure how they will do in the conference?

BYUI joining just means another good team will have the clowns for their patsies, like they did with New Mexico. And the clowns just ensure themselves of remaining in the basement.

But as long as the clowns have a conference to belong to THAT is ALL they care about. They will give Texas, Oklahoma, BYU and other schools ANYTHING they want...just don't do away with the conference because the clowns have nothing to offer any other conference except a hungry mouth.

And Pitt? Why would Pitt join the big 12...think of the travel costs, no rivalries. Pitt has NOTHING to gain by joining the big 12, nothing whatsoever.

Mesa is getting his jollies off wishing and hoping that this all comes true for his beloved clowns.

I'd go with 100%. BYU isn't going to join the Texas League one year after going independent. Notre Dame isn't coming either. Pitt doesn't make any sense.

Besides, the last thing any ISU fan would want is any of those three team on the schedule.
