Hey Mesa, here is a good read on BYU and the Big 12

Give this a read Mesa.

ksl.com - What's the "Big" Deal?

I found this line very interesting, how about you:

In short, BYU would be looking for the kinds of promises and comforts that are hard to come by in today's fluid collegiate athletics environment.

I already read...as it was posted on the ISU rivals site. Excellent article. Nothing in the requirements for joining the conference that the writer lays out...is out of line. Those "hard to come by" promises are exactly what BYU will be given. Almost certainly, all of those requirements will be met as BYU joins the conference...which will be great for the league as a whole.

You know, let them do as they do. If you sit an shove this kind of crap in their faces over and over again and then by chance they are right, you will look like a bigger fool. Nothing is set in stone so it could go either way. At least wait to gloat until its over.

Re: Hey Mesa, here is a good read on BYU and the Big 12

Why do people think BYU is such a great get? I understand the Big12 would have to go after them, but are they an upgrade over TAM? Contrary to what some people are saying, BYU does not have national appeal. It appeals to the Mormon population, but that's all. That demographic is highly concentrated in the mountain states and not even all of them are BYU fans. Many follow Utah, Utah St and other western schools.

How many Mormons do you really think are east of the Mississippi? It isn't a very big percentage. I understand going after BYU, it's probably the only real option, but don't try to make it out like BYU is this national power with a huge fan base. What are there something like 9 to 11 million Mormons total?

Re: Hey Mesa, here is a good read on BYU and the Big 12

Slick is a closet clown or a full blown clown fan. There will be no egg on anyone's face except those Big 12 and clown fans who actually think that BYU, Notre Dame, and (or) Pitt are going to join the Big 12. It has been and is great fun watching the demise of the Big 12.

Fans, and especially clown fans, like to think that they and their conference are relevant. The only relevant members of the big 12 are Texas, Oklahoma, and a couple of others. The rest of the schools are scared to death that either Texas or Oklahoma will move leaving those schools with no place to go because they HAVE NOTHING to offer another conference except a mouth to feed.

So, clown fans are now talking about Notre Dame, Pitt, and BYU joining...but those are wet dreams for clown fans. Notre Dame does not need the Big 12 for anything...the Big 12 needs Notre Dame for everything. Notre Dame would be committing suicide if they joined the Big 12. The only thing the clowns would offer Notre Dame is another sure win 9 out of 10 times they play.

Pitt does not need the Big 12 and the logistics would be a nightmare and they would lose some very old rivalries...for what? Games with the clowns, Kansas, KSU, and such. And finally BYU, who is a mini Texas. They are not going to join the Big 12 unless they can have everything they want and they have no intentions of being "just another member."

When BYU was in the MWC, they tried to rule the conference and tell the conference what to do. When the rest of the conference refused they decided to go on their own. They would still want to bully the Big 12 if they joined only they would have to take a backseat to Texas and Oklahoma, and they might even have to get in the trunk with the clowns and the rest of the little big 12. They have no intention of playing nice and being a member. They THINK they are on a level with Texas. They would immediately join the league thinking that they are better than the little brothers in the Big 12.

It would actually be funny watching BYU join the Big 12 because if you think there is unrest now, just wait until BYU starts demanding. And Texas is not about to share anything they have with BYU. They would want to rule BYU just as they do the rest of the conference. The infighting would be great fun to watch.

And Pollard and the clowns would just have to sit back and watch because they have absolutely no influence or say in what the league does. They are lucky to even be IN a BCS conference considering the historical state of their football program.

Clown fans are dreaming, dreaming, dreaming if they think Notre Dame, BYU, and (or) Pitt are going to join a failing conference ruled by Texas.

Look who else gets up in the morning and heads to the Hawkeye site.

Ridiculing the preposterous ideas of ND/Pitt joining the big 12 is shoving it in clown faces?

While it might not be set in stone that BYU isn't joining the Big 12 they have wrote it in ink on a piece of paper.

That one line alone made it sound like BYU would make demands to the Big 12 that probably wouldn't be acceptable. Oklahoma isn't going to agree to anything that gives BYU special treatment because they can pick up their ball and move to any conference they would want to right now.

Actually, it is more like 6 million Mormons in this country, and about 11 million worldwide.

Oh I dont buy stock in the whole deal at all. If it happens, very cool, if not, well I hope something comes along that can help stabilize us a bit. Its a mess, no doubt. I dont envy the AD's at all.

And only a few hundred thousand of them are going to heaven.

If Notre Dame wants to go to the B12 I say let them. I am tired of the rumors of them ever joining the B1G. If they do not want to join the B1G then let them go as we will be fine without them.

BYU would make a nice addition to the B12 but they would have to get all BYU's demands out of the way up front. I doubt they would try to push the B12 around like they did MWC as they would actually be in a conference schools that have greater influence than what they have. They must have thought they would get a BCS deal like Notre Dame got.
