Could this be last ISU vs Iowa FB Game for a while?
With the potential break-up of the Big XII and a possible move of ISU to the Big East the future schedules may not permit it. I'm not a fan of having a annual team on the out of conference schedule so it won't bother me, but some really love this game.

I would love to see the Pac 12 break up and not have the clowns on our schedule any longer. When they go to the MWC, CUSA, or the MAC Iowa can then schedule them for home games about every three or four years.

Well if it is, Iowa Corn is off the hook for coming up with an actual football trophy. After paying for the feed to the ISU/ UNI game yesterday and missing almost half of the game because the idiots running the website couldn't manage the traffic, I would do anything to stop putting money in their pockets!

I grew up in Clown COuntry. They are the most delusional fans I have ever come across. THey don't realize they are a small time gig.
At best they are and ALWAYS have been a mid-major type program. If they lose their conference affiliation they are in serious trouble. They have MAJOR debt issue and now may not be able to pay them off with no income.
ISU reminds me of the downtown area of Adventureland....a weak attempt at building facades but once you get inside you realize its a fake building.

OzHawk- You seem to have an irrational hatred for Iowa State. What major debt issue are you talking about?
Do you think that the state of Iowa or the University of Iowa would be better off if ISU gets force into mid-major status?

Re: Could this be last ISU vs Iowa FB Game for a while?
Hope they don't get broken up or reclassified to a mid-major. isu fans, while often delusional, are pretty stout in their love for all things isu. I think it is their own way of counteracting the enormous hawk following, and they are mostly iowans, so they are proud.
The annual isu-iowa game is a W for the state, and it matters not who we play in pre-bigten, so we might as well play little sister, who would garner more respect being in a "major" conference. Besides Hawk tix are hard enough to get the way it is now!

Re: Could this be last ISU vs Iowa FB Game for a while?
FWIW, I want the Iowa-ISU game to continue on a IC/Ames every other year basis. I think it's good for Iowa football - it forces us to be sharp very early in the season. It sucks to lose and have to hear about it for the next 365 days, but there's a real simple solution to that problem.
That said, IF ISU ends up being demoted into a non-BCS conference, I think it's going to be really difficult to justify continuing on a IC/Ames every other year basis. I really can't think of any examples where a BCS school has to play a non-BCS school on a regular home+home basis. The board of regents I'm sure would have something to say about it.

Agree. Even if ISU stays in the Big 12, this series should go to an every other year status...and really,it should be 2 years at Iowa for every one year at ISU. If they drop down to a non-BCS league, then definitely it needs to go to the latter suggestion. Now, that said, I do not want them to drop down, as they are a BCS school on the schedule, and the rivalry is worth maintaining ,so it is better with ISU as a BCS school. Besides,if they drop down,Iowa taxpayers will probably have to pay off all that debt their fool of an AD piled up.

Follard has mortgaged their future. I have no proof other than what I've read about said subject since Folly has been at the helm. Oz is right here. Just like you can use debt on your house to finance it's purchase, or remodeling, for example, Universities can mortgage their property to finance their spending. You know, like billboards in Cedar Rapids, for example.
So if the revenue streams suddenly go down up in clownland (and according to a person on cyclownfanatic who has a friend who works in their AD, revenues expected to decline 30%, and expenses to rise), (i.e. move to the moutain west decreases revenue and increased travel times) wonder boy Follard's cutting edge bold moves will look a bit suspect. I suppose he can always count on FEMA to come in and inject some capital from time to time, and he can always fall back on broadcasting internet games and charging $9 instead of allowing them to be put on tv, but I'd guess his days getting by by charging Iowa and Nebraska fan a season ticket to get into their game is coming to a close.

I don't think anyone outside of clown fans would even notice. There you go again being delusional thinking your rinky dink program has some sort of impact on the state of Iowa.

I don't think it is at all unrealistic that they will find themselves in the Mountain West. I think it would be a great opportunity for them to start having some success in that league which would lead to improved recruiting, donations, facilities, etc. Granted it won't be on the level of a BCS program but they were never going to be anyway...even in a BCS conference.

Re:Could this be last ISU vs Iowa FB Game for a while?
The Texas legislature is not getting involved. They say they no longer approve of A&M leaving and told Texas to hold off on moving conferences talk. Don't they have anything better to do than temporarily fix this sham of a league?
