Clone Fans, I have a question.
This is a serious question.
Has there been real knowledgeable report about the Big East Wanting ISU to join? And if So what does the Big East see that you will bring to the table?
You dont really have any ties to any of the other schools, you're in a low populated state and you're rarely on TV. You rarely sell out games, and you're not a traditional Bball or Football rich school? IF the big east were to expand, they could take a number of schools. So my question is why would they take you? Its a serious question and I'm not trying to be mean or flame. Why would the Big East take you?

Re: Clone Fans, I have a question.
The only reason the Big East would want ISU is to get their numbers back up after they're raided by the other conferences, should things go the super-conference route.

i see this happening too. not necessarily because any other reason except they will need all the teams they can get when the raiding begins. the big east might not be left with anything resembling a football program after this all shakes out.

They'll still have a few decent teams, or should anyways. UCONN, Pitt, Cuse, TCU, USF. unless they all get plucked by other conferences.

IDK, UConn and Pitt will be really desirable for their great b-ball programs, could see them going ACC or something like that.

Re: Clone Fans, I have a question.
ISU had an offer on the table from the Big East last year. That is 100% a truth, no BS. However, after the Big East got TCU last year, I have a bad feeling that ISU might be odd man out with Kansas, KState, and Mizzou going to the Big East to make it twelve teams.
KU coach Bill Self: If Big 12 had folded, Big East had offer on table
Bow before the 20-team Big East - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN
And what ISU brings to the table is the fact that they are better than what the Big East already has. Or they wouldn't have gotten the offer last year. This year it is more of a numbers game.
I understand ISU isn't a premier BCS conference athletic school that has millions of TV screens, but ISU belongs in a BCS conference whether you want to admit it or not.

Why do you think you belong in a BCS conference if you cant bring anything to a conference?

Kansas is the only state equivalent to Iowa population wise that has 2 BCS level schools. ISU is not entitled to membership in a BCS conference. If they can, great, but they do not innately belong in a BCS conference.

If you read the article Self says "its the feeling we got" so it was speculation. PERIOD.
BTW you do not belong in a BCS conference. You are a mid-major type program and you have been pretending to be big boy long enough.

Re: Clone Fans, I have a question.
I was thumbing through cf.com and stumbled across the 'Official ISU to Big East' thread and it was a few pages long, complete will several conference divisions set up for basketball and football. The remarkable thing was that they never analyzed the assumption that the Big East would want them.
Several said they would prefer the Big 12 staying together but if it didn't and they had to go to the Big East that was acceptable.
The Big Ten was suggested as well but there were some arguments to that.
Edit- And want ISU to win every game they play in the Big 12, but this is just too delusional. I suppose there is a chance they do get to the Big East but it is far from a logical expectation.

Re: Clone Fans, I have a question.
Doesn't the Big East already have 16 basketball members? Adding Big 12 orphans for. a football numbers argument makes sense but why on earth would a conference want 20 teams? Please try and make sense of that. ISU is better off in the MAC geographically and competitively; the Cyclones could dominate and become another Boise..maybe..
