Whats up with everybody making fun of Rhoads' looks and speech accent? I know he's our in-state rival's coach but he's too good of a guy to hate. If he didn't coach ISU I would wish him all the luck in the world.

I don't think anyone is really "making fun" of it. It is a bit odd that a man who was born and raised in Ankeny, and who has spent all of one year of his coaching career in South has a southern accent.

he coaches at ISU. after he leaves in a couple more years I promise not to raz him about the obvious dental work he needs to have.

case in point: I used to call McCarney McClowney. I no longer do.

i make fun of anyone with a southern drawwwwl. especially a guy who is so obviously not a southerner. the snaggle tooth and summer sasquatch beard just ads to the legend of CPR.

Its more than "a bit odd". Its impossible. My wife and I have lived in NC for six years and neither of us has so much as a trace of southern accent. Mind you, I can parrot a drawl and some sayings, but its just an act.
No way CPR's drawl is legit; it has to be an affectation.

Have you ever lived around people with southern accents? It's really easy to
pick up really. There's different southern accents too and many are far more pleasant to listen to compared to say a Jersey accent!

I used to travel in the south for work and talked with southerners on the phone when I was not traveling. I picked up some sayings and some drawl from time to time.
