Why Cyclone fans outclass Iowa fans

This board is full of vitriol spewed by one Downers Grove, IL native who does nothing but bash the backbone of Iowa, great places like Ottumwa, Marshalltown and Fort Dodge. Over on Cyclone Fanatic, they have a whole thread dedicated to Fort Dodge bars.

Anyone remember these Fort Dodge Drinking Establishments - CycloneFanatic

ISU's fan base is full of classy folks from Iowa and Iowa's fan base is full of Western Chicago suburb idiots with no sense of Iowa pride and tradition. If state spirit dictates the winner of the game on Saturday, I'm taking ISU 56-0.

I see you have been trolling the cyclone boards again ok4p. You are such a pessimistic person in general. Being around you surely brings all around you down. I am glad i do not personally know you.

Correct. The Iowa fan base very closely resembles the NW fan base.

Umm, no, that thread came up in a search of the google I conducted regarding a bar in Fort Dodge that my folks used to take us to on Christmas Eve (I wanted to see if it was still open) and it demonstrated how Cyclone fans have some respect for the state and its institutions and didn't just come to Iowa from Downers Grove bince they couldn't get into Northern Illinois.

Not really. There really isn't a Northworstern fan base.

I have been to Fort Dodge MANY a times when I was younger. Now I am all in for having pirde in my state, but to put Fort Dodge as a must see on a vistors guide, I am not for.

No, no...there is. It's comprised of the village idiots from hamlets far and wide. I know this for a fact as i have a brother who attended NW. Pretty much confirms my theory. They spend countless hours antagonizing fan bases from which much jealousy is derived. You see they seek something that they can only dream of. Something so precious and so valuable to them that they will trade anything for it. Something that they would trade their wives and children for at the drop of a NW hat.

That something is a Bowl Victory. Be it the Midas Suck Pipe bowl, or the Violet Humanitarian Bowl.

Yeah, they want one, but they ain't gonna get one unless they have a decent, but not too good team that gets into one of the crappier B10 bowl slots. They almost beat Auburn in the Outback Bowl a few years ago, but I just don't see them winning the caliber of bowl games Iowa has won in the recent past. Hence, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin become their bowl games because they also ain't gonna beat anybody who is really good in the conference anytime soon. I ain't gonna lie, I'm still pretty chapped about the time they knocked that sick Alford team out of the tournament, though.

Geez, some of you hyper-sensitive small townies.
I wonder if the giant chip on some of your shoulders has ever made you topple over at a wet tailgate and hurt your leg?
Anyways, Naperville is waaaay better than Downer's Grave. Just ask anyone who lives in Naperville, they'll tell you how wicked awesome they think it is.

Look guy, it was at the game and not the tailgate where I hurt my leg. It was a monsoon. Jameson was passed around. The bleachers were slippery. If I can't get my shoe on by tomorrow and if the color don't leave it, Ma is fixin' to send me to the Dr.

Hey, if you actually grew up in a crappy Iowa town, you have every right in the world to axe it. You've paid your dues.

You are right...well let's count that game as a win against Auburn then. As you mention, you "almost" won. I think that's close enough for Northwestern. I'm sure Fitzy The Cat is in the locker room, "come on guys, we just have to almost win".

It's funny, I think Iowa has become NW's bowl game. I'm convinced of it. Fitzy The Cat has won 6 of 8 then. If he only could get his team ready to play in a bowl game. Why don't you think they can win one of those? I curious what you think. Seriously, who was in the office at that time...Teddy Roosevelt? That's alot of political history under the bridge. I seriously think it's in their heads and they wet themselves every mid December in the tunnel when they come out to play their bowl game. Are they just focused on Christmas? Is that it?
