Looks like it is Rhoads' best team so far

You could make a strong argument that ISU has won 2 games in spite of Jantz's efforts(UNI/Uconn). When you go 2-0 in games that the QB has thrown 6 INTs, the rest of the team is playing solid, making a lot of plays, and bailing him out.

The defense has really made teams work for their yards and scores from all points of the field. The WRs are making some key catches over and over. Punter Kirby VanDerKamp has been solid this season pinning teams back.

The pair of running backs has shown a nice burst this season. Haven't posted lofty rushing totals, but plenty of 6-8 yard type runs to keep play calling selection mixed up all game.

Re: Looks like it is Rhoads' best team so far

Rhoads defense and personnel is doing what is needed to win games. The defense has held serve repeatedly until the offense could come around.

ISU run defense:
106th in the nation in rush attempts against the ISU D with 127 carries by opponents.
In-spite of the sheer number of carries, ISU is 1 of only 16 teams to not allow a 20+ yard run this season.

100th in the nation in rushing attempts against per game (42.33 rpg)
78th in the nation in YPG rushing allowed (158)
60th in the nation in YPC allowed (3.73)

Cyclones lurking around 40th to 60th in most all major pass defense categories, while ranked 70th(on the high side) in pass attempts against per game.

Haven't sifted through the offense yet, but I do know guys like Darius Reynolds, Josh Lenz, and Shontrelle Johnson are already on the verge of topping last seasons production. All signs pointing to this team being exceedingly more accomplished on the stat sheet than last year...especially the offense and doing so quickly

I think ISU is last year's Auburn.

Good for them, now compare to the overall offenses of the teams they have played.

UConn if not last has to be damn close to being last in probably every offensive category there is.

Only allowing 20 points in college football will win you a lot of games.
Only allowing 200 yards over the final 3 qtrs(along with 6 punts) will also win some college football games.

UConn was given 3 golden eggs early and managed to get 3 points out of it. ISU D stepped up repeatedly when the field was short. Congrats to UConn for a couple TD drives that were 3 qtrs apart and a whole lot of nothing else.

ISU fans can just as easily rag on your stats. Pretty sure UCONN is better than Tenn Tech.

should be 4-0 after their next game. with a bye week, and the confidence knowing you have texas' number, it's easy money. will likely be deace's best bet.

I hate Iowa State but you can't fault their results so far. They've had 3 games and done what they needed to do to win. They beat the Hawks and their offense made our d look pretty bad while doing it.

2 of the 3 QBs have completely different skill sets. Runner vs a passer. It forces the defense to prepare for 3 different QBs during a short week in a road game.
UConn offensively blew their wad in the 1st qtr, and their defense was good enough to keep them in the game.

Re: Looks like it is Rhoads' best team so far

I would agree the Iowa State defense looks solid so far. Maybe not great, but good. If the defense was any worse they'd be 0-3 instead of 3-0. I didn't see the UNI game, but the defense was definitely the reason they hung around in the Iowa and UCONN games. Allowing them to overcome some early mistakes.

The offense will have to be more consistent for them to have a good season. If that happens, I think they may surprise some people.

Go ahead and rag on the stats all you want and UConn might be better than Tenn Tech but that isn't the point now is it, I'm not the one bragging about how good the Iowa D is against some anemic offenses like ISU has faced. Lets see after Big 12 play when they face some pretty good offenses if their D is still looking this good.

Do they still make point spread picks on the show?

I would assume the public thinks Texas is back after whooping UCLA, and Texas might come in a 7-10 point favorite.
