Clones reach out to the Big East Conference

Did anybody else see the bottom line on ESPN that ISU and Baylor have reached out to the Big East Conference? Also, Pittsburgh and Syracuse have inquired to see what it will take to get them into the ACC.

I don't know if this was a good move by ISU....remember how Missouri reached out to the Big Ten and then wasn't even considered?

They need to be proactive now, everyone else in the Big Nothing is.

Its a good move for them. With the Big Texas league falling apart they need a conference. And with Pitt and Syracuse looking at the ACC they will probably get in. Travel is going to be a pain. Back to back road games could really tire them out. East coast one week, Texas the next.

The two bottom feeders in the Big T league could actually be competitive in the Big East.

Smart move by Iowa State as I think the Big East survives due to basketball. But will the Big East be able to keep its BCS status in football?

I see nothing wrong with ISU doing all it can in this climate.

If they were in Big East they would have more success in football and their basketball program would get a big boost. Fred is already recruiting well out east

The acc met today and accepted them. Acc talking about adding two more east coast teams now. I think ISU going after the big east is the right play, right now. Big east needs to fill those gaps and fast. But if ISU and other B12 teams go for the Big east they will need to let TAM go, and that will be the end of the B12. Could it be ISU going to the Big east that puts the nail in the coffin?

Re: Clones reach out to the Big East Conference

The Big East was trying to be proactive but they knew it was only a matter of time before they became victims. With the ACC shoring up their conference it pretty much helps protect them in case the SEC or the B1G poaches some of their teams. In fact, being the first 14 team conference puts the ACC in a pretty strong position. When A&M finally gets their **** worked out and they go to the SEC I'm assuming the SEC goes after WV. I don't think there is going to be much of a Big East left to join. If things go down in the Big 12 like most think it will my best guess is that the Big 12 and Big East leftovers form some kind of alliance, although I'm not sure how solid of a conference that would be.
