Observations from ISU v. OSU game

I dont' have many profound ones, but

1. Leonard Johnson is a good corner- BUT to go with this Blackmon is not the best WR in the NCAA, he is an amazing athlete and catcher of the ball, but every single one of his routes was just trying to get to the outside of Leonard and then run down the field and hope Weeden threw the ball up in the air for him to catch. The only time I saw him run a different route was in OT and it was a rounded off slant that got picked off cause the corner easily stayed with him. More to being a receiver than catching balls

2. OSU had no defense. ISU willingly ran it down their throats and a freshman QB made some very good plays throwing and running.

3. ISU has heart and passion, and it was refreshing to see that excitement from coaches and players, even though it felt overboard at times it was still nice to see.

4. Rhoads is willing to sit his starter if he isn't playing well. Barnett looked good for a freshman against the #2 team (vandy at OSU like)

5. The field goal was good

6. ISU beat a good team and deserved it and are going bowling.

Good luck to the clones.

I think you are spot on with everything, except that the FG was no good. If the ball goes directly over the upright the FG is no good and there was a straight on shot of it doing just that. The ball would had to have been completely inside the imaginary extended upright to count.

I respectfully disagree about Blackmon. Dude is a stud. The TD he had was sick. You're right about their defense though

This. It's just like the goal line extended on plays where the ball is on the outside of the pylon. If the upright went as high as that kick, the ball would have bounced away.

This thread was born from humble beginnings. A simple question was asked, and d-bag decided to answer it in a condescending manner. We then proceeded to chastise him. Since then a myriad of topics have ranged from the sensible (Who would win in jousting, Tony Mo or Moped Man?), to the ludicrous (STATE actually landing an attractive woman ). You sir, are a clonebag, attempting to bring us down! This will not be permitted nor tolerated. RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, Jared Barnett was Rhoads 1st QB recruit. Hes a better fit for ISU than Jantz based on how he runs the zone read. He's given the offense a major spark the last 3-4 weeks. Its not just OSU hes played well against. He's 3-0 as the starter and looked competent vs ATM, played good vs Tech, ran wild over KU and then took it to OSU in the air and on the ground. Its early, but Barnett might make a lot of defenses look bad before he graduates.

He might be the perfect QB for the offense in terms of his athleticism. Jantz wasn't getting it done after UConn. Was probably an easy decision for the coaching staff at the time.

Rhoads at times is just like a fan on the sideline. He hides no emotion. The crowd was going crazy when the kick was no good, as was the whole ISU sideline(coaches and players). Its what guys like Rhoads and Burnham do. They don't get paid to look stoic on the sideline, they there to coach the team and win games.

Dabo Sweeny(Clemson coach) said celebrate the wins. He knew coaches that were miserable even when they won games. I can't imagine just how much work it is to be a D1 head football coach. You've really got to love the job to do it year after year.
