Did ISU do "something" with the win?
Heard comments often after Iowa State won the Cy-hawk game from Hawk fans saying something along these lines.... "ISU beat Iowa, now make it worth something". "Do something with the win".
Ok, well the Clones are bowl eligible while only playing 10 games. Considering the predictions here by many had ISU only winning 2 or 3 games, it appears they "did something" with the win, and exceeded/doubled most expectations around here.
However, based off comments I've read here towards ISU....it continually suggests ISU going to a bowl game after Cy-Hawk wins in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005 wasn't acceptable from this fan base.
So what exactly are the expectations for Hawkeye Nation wanting ISU to do in the years they beat Iowa?
Also is the "SuperBowl" talk still only apply to Iowa these days?
Nebraska got ISUs best shot in 09/10. Much much better than the combined 70-10 beatdowns ISU got against Iowa those 2 years. Speaking of which, didn't Tech beat Nebraska like 70-10 back in like 2004? Man....that's a whooping.
Texas Tech might have the best case that they are ISUs SuperBowl, considering the Clones have hung 93 freaking points on em the last 2 years.
Texas last year and OSU last night certainly got exceedingly spirited efforts from the Clones as well.
Can Iowa fans continue to play the "SuperBowl" card or is that going by the wayside with these other notable wins?

Definitely last year it was.
This year is certainly diminishing the importance of it quite a bit, but ISU hadn't dominated a game like that since probably hammering ATM in 05. With the program typically having to fight and claw for every win, it was certainly a surprise that still sticks out a bit.

i like the fact that this thread has been ignored by most, despite the fact that it pretty much spells out that the "superbowl" excuse doesnt really old much water these days.

Re: Did ISU do "something" with the win?
I'm pretty sure the majority of Iowa fans were extremely excited about ISU's win on Friday. Iowa State was also able to sell more than 50,000 tickets for each home game this year for the first time ever. Which is tremendous. Iowa State needs to continue their effort in convincing their own fans they belong instead of continuing to worried about what Iowa fans think of them.

Re: Did ISU do "something" with the win?
Outside of some posters on this board I barely hear anyone mention the Iowa game as ISU's Super Bowl. That's why I always enjoy it when ISU posters take things said by a select few homers on this site, and apply it to the fanbase as a whole. The Iowa game isn't ISU's Super Bowl. If that wasn't made obvious by their first 2 games against Iowa under Rhoads then I don't know what else to say. Rhoads clearly gets ISU up for most of their games regardless of opponent. ISU played a great game on Friday, and it was very exciting to see them pull the huge upset. It'd be nice if their fans were more gracious in victory instead of being d-bags like the OP, vigorousknit, stewo, isuer, and others who come run their mouths on these boards instead of posting on their own team's site. I'm guessing that other than the OP (whose name I've seen on CF) the other posters are the mikem's, mikeiastat's, cyphillis, etc. of CF.

I post, along with nearly every Cyclone, 99% in the Rivals Forum. If that makes you unhappy, then try not reading the Rivals section. By the way, how have I been running my mouth? Please find just one post of mine that shows me gloating. Go ahead. I'll wait.

Right, but the thread is "Hawk fans say the Clowns should 'do something' after beating Iowa", and someone says "The Clowns beat OSU and Texas Tech", then someone else says, "Texas Tech sucks...that wasn't a good win", then someone says, "But last year it was". Try to keep up.

Re: Did ISU do "something" with the win?
Pretty much every year ISU has beaten Iowa recently (sans 2002), iowa jus hasnt been good. I think that holds true this year.
