Rhoads having a decent year recruiting for the Clowns
Barkley Hill *** RB - was just named Parade AA and had an Iowa offer
Quan West *** WR - 6'4" with a Michigan offer
Eddie Porter *** JUCO LB - offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Texas A&M, Cal
Patrick Harris *** WR - offers from South Carolina, Boston College
Clifford Stokes *** JUCO CB - offers from Houston and Baylor
They have a handful of other 3 stars that have offers from mid to lower tier major conference teams like Oregon State, Arizona, Minnesota, etc...
Maybe Rhoads will turn that program into a regular bowl team that wins 6-7 games consistently?

Re: Rhoads having a decent year recruiting for the Clowns
It's really just on par for ISU. Go back through their recruiting classes the last few years. They all look the same. A spattering of 3* and 2* kids. Every so often a 4* kid gets tossed into the mix.
Also, if things fall through with Lynch I am expecting the Iowa staff to put a full court press on getting Hill to jump ship.

Several years in the past the number of 2 stars outnumbered the 3 stars regularly. Since 2009 the ratio has improved. This year it is 16 *** to 5 **.

Re: Rhoads having a decent year recruiting for the Clowns
This sounds a lot like an Iowa recruiting class. I think ISU will continue to improve and dare I say be on a similar level as Iowa. yes, I said it. I think they will. They may not have the 10 win season every 5 years, but I can see them being an 7-8 win team consistently.

I wouldn't quite go that far. Iowa has a larger fan base and better facilities. This year is a good class for ISU and would be a very average one for us. I think they will average somewhere between 5-7 wins on a regular basis if they keep this level of recruiting up.

Re: Rhoads having a decent year recruiting for the Clowns
Here are their average stars per year: 2012 - 2.76, '11 - 2.65, '10 - 2.71, '09 - 2.52, '08 - 2.33, '07 -2.44, '06 -2.50, '05 - 2.52, '04 - 2.43
So you see while they haven't improved a lot, they have been consistently better over the last 3 seasons bringing in higher graded recruits.

Re: Rhoads having a decent year recruiting for the Clowns
Iowa State is improving facilities, and while I agree that Iowa has a bigger fan base, ISU is recruiting Texas and getting some athletes down there. I think the B12 will start to get weaker as they add more teams, and ISU can win more games. Like I said I "think" there will be some good years in there for ISU. Rhoads is getting better talent and knows what to do with it.
Iowa has had some pretty average classes in the past, and I wouldn't say that the 2002 team was loaded with big talent. It's what you do with what you have, and sadly I think CPR might get it done.

Contrived locker room videos can only take you so far.

Wait, what?
The best TE in school history and still playing in the NFL? check
The best kicker in school history and still playing in the NFL? check
The best offensive line in school history which included one of the best tackles (Gallery) guards(Steinbach) and center(Nelson) in school history two of which are still playing in the NFL? check
That's just on the offensive side of the ball and doesn't include the guy that finished second in the heisman voting.

He and his staff go into living rooms. They dont sit on their ***** and wait for a video to recruit for them. Youre just trying to be cute, but its coming off as petty.

Re: Rhoads having a decent year recruiting for the Clowns
Yeah it's been a pretty solid year for Iowa State in regards to recruiting. Even the 2 star guys look pretty solid
Nettens is a kicker and they only get 2 stars generally
Bevins was a guy that Iowa really wanted and other schools came around
Mutcherson is a kid that the staff has stayed on for a couple years now and didn't play this year but comes in with 4 to play
Really good recruits coming in this weekend for a visit
Gary Simon - Yahoo! Sports
Simon just picked up an Oklahoma offer. They've already stolen 2 DB recruits from us so hopefully not a third
Damien Lawry - Yahoo! Sports
Really good athlete who played in the state championship game down in TX. I think he may be an academic risk but not sure
Darius White - Yahoo! Sports
Guy from a great school down in Florida that I hope we can keep getting players from (got 2 last year)
Devlyn Cousin - Yahoo! Sports
DT is a tough position to recruit. The more the better IMO

Ah yes, but I'm quite sure the coaches pack a copy of that DVD into their luggage for every recruiting trip.
