Re: Fred Hoiberg on NBA radar
I don't get the money thing. Fred made 10 million in his playing career, let alone what he made in the front office (probably another million) and he could probably get a raise to a make a million a year as a no-brainer. If he's blown that already no amount of money he makes as an NBA head coach would probably help him.
Wouldn't surprise me if he left, but it would surprise me with him leaving so quickly. That said, I would absolutely hate recruiting so I'd never blame anybody from leaving the college game.

Re: Fred Hoiberg on NBA radar
Three good moves in four years, congrats Fred. That Brandon Roy for Randy Foye trade was a great move, so was drafting Johnny Flynn with a lotto pick, signing Darko to not one but two big contracts worked out well. Not to mention hiriing a coach to run a triangle when you nowhere near the personel to run that offense was a bold move too. The highlight of Fred's tenure with the T-wolves was them handing KG over to the Celtics for a chance to win a title. That organization was a dumpster fire the entire time he was there.
Also for someone with a "lack of knowledge on all things sports related", it's pretty amazing how I basically predicted exactly how ISU's season would play out a year ahead of time.

Re: Fred Hoiberg on NBA radar
Just supplying facts. I think Fred leaves some time if he wants to go to the NBA (similar to Kirk leaving if he wants to go to the NFL). Not sure he would do it now, but I could see it some time. I think his family will be the reason for him to make whatever decision he makes. Money may be an issue as well, but I think he has enough where it does not hurt him either way.

I'm sorry but was Hoiberg the owner? President? GM? You act like the guy was Matt Millen.
You didn't predict anything correct on Iowa State. I wish Jon hadn't banned you for 6 months. I would have loved to have seen you on this board squirm when Iowa State was having success this year.

Re: Fred Hoiberg on NBA radar
Yes, I kept reading the thread, but I still thought your logic was very flawed. You were saying that the difference between Fred and the Captain is that the Captain makes a ton more money (very true) and Fred makes crap money (very true). But you failed to mention that Fred has made a ton of money over his 20 year career. So it is very likely that his family is VERY SET for money. And I think you got your reference screwed up. He's referred to his heart as a 'ticking time bomb' in the past tense---as in it was until it was discovered 5 years ago. But I don't think he refers to it as that now.
For the record, I think that Hoiberg likes the NBA game a lot. And I think that he coaches the college game a lot like the NBA. And I think that he will be mentioned for almost any NBA coaching job that opens up. And I think that if he leaves Iowa State it will be for an NBA coaching job. But he won't take an NBA coaching job for the money. It'll be because he WANTS to coach the NBA.
