Re: ISU OWNS WEEDEN
That is such a cop out...
It didn't seem to effect them when they were up 24-7..... I'm sorry but I doubt many football players even have met the women's basketball coaching staff at any school, let alone have a deep enough connection to be truly effected by it.

Re: ISU OWNS WEEDEN
ISU played great and deserved to win. Okie St. didn't play their best game that said I give ISU credit for doing what they needed to do to get the W.

Re: ISU OWNS WEEDEN
There's a few reasons actually.... I'm not sure Wally completely trusted the linebackers and secondary early on conference play as they faced teams that liked to throw it 40+ times a game. Not because of their ability, but as a result of ISU not having a disruptive play-maker in the front 4. ISU was not necessarily over-matched up front in most cases, they just didn't have "that guy" that could really take over a game in the front 4.
Against Baylor and Mizzou, Wally employed a ton of a nickle and dime defense geared to slowing down those passing attacks. As a result, those offenses basically got 5 vs 5 on blocking situations and ran WILD on the ground. I think over the course of the season Wally came to trust his line-backers in coverage, and the defensive backfield overall.
ISU started the season with a ton of 4-3, but abandoned it early in Big 12 play.
By mid-season ISU was back to playing defense a lot more straight up in a 4-3, regardless of who/what offense they faced.
An angle no one has seemingly mentioned about that game was OSU's inability to stay with the run. ISU actually played them straight up 4-3 on defense for a good portion of that game....as a result OSU didn't have success running the ball...and then in the 2nd half OSU pretty much abandoned the run altogether, when they could have tried to wear out ISU with a multiple score lead.... and that mistake in attack really played into ISU's favor.
Wally also drew up the plan to hold Mizzou in 2010 to season totals way below their average in points and yards....so the guy seems to draw up some solid game plans along the way...just appears he had to learn from his mistakes in a couple games.http://www.tecmobowl-vs-rbi.com/index.html An indepth look at Nintendo's greatest games. Tons of strategy and information about Tecmo Bowl & RBI Baseball.
