The most successful college athletic programs drive interest from elsewhere.. not just their alumni base.

Very true. I have said on more than one sports call in show that I would much rather beat Mich, Ohio St, and especially Wisc etc from the big 10 than beat ISU.

Look at 2002, we blew a game and lost to ISU but I will still take the 8-0 record and B1G championship anytime.

Iowa -ISU is not Notre Dame- Mich or Florida-Florida St.
