I would also like to point out the difference between Iowa student and Iowa fan. When I went to Iowa, I was friends with the Kane County crew, and all of those guys hated Iowa sports. My freshman year in the dorms, I hung out with moar Michigan fans than Iowa fans.

I know it's just anecdotal, but all of the Hawk fans I spend my time with now are people that grew up in Iowa, and either went to Iowa or someplace better.

Doosh's are going to be dooshs without cheering for a school. This topic is seriously worn out. It's a very rare case that cheering for a school with athletic success turns you into a doosh. I do find it to be accurate that the fans that didn't attend their favorite school seem to be the loudest, most ignorant fans.

What if its true? I'd say in Iowa's case, it really is true. Iowa is a good school and most Cyclones have friends who went there.

However, all it takes is an hour in any Iowa City bar to see that the ****** bag quotient is pretty high at Iowa. Mostly thanks to the Illinois imports. Throw in the fact that Iowa has had greater success than Iowa State, which means that Iowa is going to have more fans than Iowa State, and just like you pointed out, Iowa has more dbag fans.

This is complete BS. The only fan base that looks down on Iowa is ISU, or maybe some other Big10 schools rivals (IE Minny, Ill., or Wisky). Iowa doesn't have a bad fan base rap, except in the mind of delusional ISU fan.

The problem is the d-bags ruin it for everyone. If I had to judge ISU fan by their postings on HN message board, then I would HATE ISU with a passion, as most of the posters that come over here are idiots (or at least the most vocal ones). As it stands I have several really good friends who are ISU fans, and they are good fans, not idiots. I enjoy rooting along with them for ISU while watching them play. I tailgate with them in Ames and have a great time. I was screaming and yelling for them as they beat Okie St., and had always have a great time in Ames.

It never fails though, as every time I go to the bar to watch ISU, or I go to Ames to watch them, I have to listen to the biggest fing idiots in the world (alot of the fans). I really wish that my only interaction was with good ISU fans, but unfortunately there are soooooo many freaking clown idiots that I have to put up with and ignore, while watching the game........It is unfortunate, but it is what it is.

The bolded statement is very true. I've been told at numerous different schools that Iowa has a great fanbase, and that we are some of the more respectful fans that come to town. I've been told this in Madison, Minneapolis, Ann Arbor, and C-U. I've also been told this by Florida fans at our first Outback Bowl against them.

Are we more obnoxious towards ISU fans? Of course, because of the rivalry. They do seem to think (incorrectly) that this is how we act on other campuses. There will always be a few bad apples wherever you go, but by and large Iowa has a passionate fanbase that is still respectful of other schools.

Illannoy fan has this bizarre obsession with calling Iowans hicks, which is difficult to comprehend since their school is surrounded by rural wasteland for 100 miles in each direction.
