If a Tavernhawk exists, its not based on attending Iowa, its based on being a bitter old loser who leads a crappy existence and makes way too big of a deal about being a Hawkeye fan. You know those guys are out there. You don't have to be an alum to be a good fan, but it seems (with many fanbases) that the most obnoxious examples of that fanbase are non-alums.

The fact is every school is filled with delusional Dbags. The more success a school has, the more fans it will have, and the more delusional Dbags. Iowa has more fans than ISU, so they will have more Dbag fans......Ohio St. has more fans than Iowa, so they will have more Dbag fans, etc.....

I will occasionally run into a clone grad or fan here in Madison. Their hatred for teh Hoks is really interesting. I tried to strike up a conversation with one and he was visibly agitated when I told him I went to the U of I. Very odd.

Fwiw, no one at ALL cares about teh ISU outside of the state of Iowa (or maybe outside of central and western Iowa).

I grew up in central Iowa, but haven't lived there in a long time. Over time, I actually started to root for ISU in some games (that actually made it to TV). I suppose if I were forced to move back to central Iowa, I'd end up being irritated by them again.

I'd like to point out that I loathe the Badgers. Proximity does that for a person.
