Re: Interesting Post from Miller and Deace.....
I e-mailed Pollard once. He was arrogant with his response.
One another note, I also e-mailed Dan McCarney once while I was a student at Iowa State. It was after they beat us 23-3 and he said that Jack Trice was the toughest place to play that afternoon than anywhere he's ever been.
To make a long story short, he called my cell phone about 5 minutes after I sent the email. And no joke his first words were:
"Brian, this is Dan McCarney. I'm trying to figure out if you're on LSD or smoking crack." Then we argued about all the great places he had been and how they were much better than anything Jack Trice has even been. Then he told me to come into his office instead of sending emails, but I chickened out.

Re: Interesting Post from Miller and Deace.....
So how do people know if this guy didn't buy season tickets? He may have been part of a group that buys them in someone else's name. I have football tickets in my name for 5 other people who pay me then I order them. If Barta checked any of these 5 he would think they have never bought season tickets which isn't true.
While this guy might not have donated any money to the cyclone club Pollard just made sure this guy never will and to me that is what is the bad thing. Pollard isn't really in a position to alienate anyone with the renovations he wants done to Jack Trice and any other money he needs.

Pollard told you (rightfully so) I'm not concerned with your threat because I can't find a shread of evidence that you ever did support the program.
The only things in that exchange that is arrogant or unacceptable is your vauge criticism of McD's coaching ability, the ability (or your perceived lack there of) of some players on the roster, and your completely ungrounded view of Cyclone basketball and it's history.

Pretty funny, Duff. I'm not Matt...my name is Jason. I live in Pleasant Hill. Just like any other Cyclone ******, I wouldn't expect anything less from you either. You are the reason I'm proud to be a Hawkeye fan.

And so it begins. Matt/Jason bypasses the lower level insults and goes right to calling Duffman the mother of all insults... A CYCLONE FAN!!!!
You do realize you did the 6 year old equivilant of going straight to the "double dog dare" right? Now my only two acceptable recourses are to insult the size of your male parts or to go into hiding and cry myself to sleep tonight.

Classless response by Pollard.
Maybe this fan is busy putting food on the table for his family and making mortgage payments? Maybe he can only go to 1 or 2 games a year because he has other more pressing responsibilities?
In business - every single customer is important.
Pollard is a Jerk!

I'm guessing if he had other more pressing responsibilities, he wouldn't be writing the athletic director about the state of the basketball program.

Re: Interesting Post from Miller and Deace.....
Can't you buy tickets at the door for cash at ISU? Unlikely, but this guy could have gone to every game for 40 years. Further, and also de minimis, if he owns any Cyclone apparel, the school likely received royalties from any such purchase he made.
Overall, a flip response from Pollard. As an AD, there is no need to trash each fan that has an opinion. Even if the fan did not put any money into the program, providing the world with tangible proof that you are an a-hole does you no good.

Re: Interesting Post from Miller and Deace.....
There are ways to step on shoes and still leave some shine.......Mr. Pollard's response wasn't an example of that.
If a follower of the program is not a "fan" unless he or she supports the institution financially in some way then I wonder why he even responded.
These days I think most athletic programs around the country would welcome additional support from their casual "followers" as well as "die hard fans". Pollard was served up a hard slider on the outside corner that he swung and missed on.

Thank you X 1,000,000,000!!!! I can't believe no one other than you brought this up. The only sure way to make certain you get a seat next to a friend or family member is what? ORDER THEM TOGETHER. Something my friend and I will do this year at Kinnick. Well the order goes under one person's name and the other pays that person for the tickets. Way to think about that possibility Jamie.

I agree with you on the email validity. If that indeed was the response from Pollard, YIKES! For bigging such a d-bag, he has big stones.

Re: Interesting Post from Miller and Deace.....
Jamie Pollard is responsible for a billboard gloating their rare victory over Iowa on our team's route to kinnick and blaring ridiculous high school style noises over the loudspeakers of JT stadium while our offense is set on the line. He is an *** and I'm not surprised by this email. However, I am surprised that cyclone fans have not run him out of town yet. I guess just having a non-losing football season every few years is enough for them, no class, charachter, or integrity is required.
