    MSU's Nix arrested....

Being reported on the Score that MSU's junior center, Nix, was arrested last nite for operating a vehicle under the influence, and possession of pot.

Izzo has indicated that Nix's future in the program ''is in serious doubt''.

I think in the past Izzo has drummed Chris Allen and Kory Luscious out of the MSU program for similar incidents.

Will ISU step up to the plate again as the unofficial MSU halfway house for wayward bb players?

Nix had a big year, and was key to their late season success,as he developed. I remember Izzo saying that Nix is his only senior next year and would have to be the leader to replace Dray Green. Maybe he will let him stay on the team...I hate to judge, because kids do make mistakes, and no one was hurt....stuff happens. I always think about how I would react if it was a Hawkeye player...second chances are very much the american way.
If he is gone, definitely hurts MSU next year.

(AMES, IOWA) 'When one door closes, another one opens.'

So reads the sign above the doorway of Fred Hoiberg's offices within the Iowa State basketball division of the Jacobsen Center in Ames, Iowa.

Hoiberg, who has quickly built a reputation for having one of the finest college basketball rehabilitation centers in the nation, is closely monitoring the situation in East Lansing, Michigan with the news that Derrick Nix has been arrested on drug charges.

When reached for comment, Hoiberg said that he could not speak specifically to Nix or any other athlete who is currently enrolled at another program. But when asked if he would hypothetically consider taking a senior to be, with one year of eligibility, who has had drug issues in his past, Hoiberg did not hesitate with his response.

    "**** yes we would."

If Nix is kicked off, it will be addition by subtraction.

    Just another Pershing Doughboy failure.
