DSJ/Matt McD appreciation thread!
Champions. Doesnt get any better than first!
Matt did what i expected him to do. He is our team captain.
DSJ made me so proud of him today. Whats guts and determination. Beating an undefeated Jason Welch was a clutch performance.
I know he has caught a lot of flack around here, and those people telling us he is not mentally tough should eat some crow now, and show Derek some love.
Congrats to our Big Ten champs!

McD--it was great to see him on the attack, even when he had the lead in the 3rd period. On a mission for title #2.
DSJ--Yes, he battled all year long. Hopefully, this weekend was a sign that his knee is feeling better.

Re: DSJ/Matt McD appreciation thread!
The way Welch has been wrestling this year, I didn't think a banged up DSJ could take him. Both are lights out, and I'm not conceding this weight to Dake at all. Looking at his scores against Big Ten starters, it's comparable to what both these guys did.
I know you can't go by common opponents, plus the fact that Dake isn't really a big scorer to begin with, but I like our chances at 157. Just don't choose down.

Re: DSJ/Matt McD appreciation thread!
Agree very much. I'm really surprised with how un-dominant Dake has looked. I thought he would roll this year. His last two years at 141 and 149 he was just unreal. I think the jump to 157 may have been a bit too much. It's not like he has a huge frame... he's always been a lanky kid. I wouldn't write him off but I think he's totally beatable. DSJ has a real shot to win it all. His knee (his good one) got bent sideways today and he didn't flinch. And he didn't seem to be gimpy on his bad knee at all.

DSJ is a tough dude. He is no where close to 100%, he is exactly what Brands wants in every kid. Blood, sweat, tears...just win baby!

Id like to add Gambrall to the list of people who deserve accolades, 2nd time down on weight and he's at the big tens, and I for one will gladly eat my crow, sure he didn't win and dropped two close ones, but in january we were all talking about how he woudlnt even qualify, its good to see grant back.
