    Seems to be based on performance against national elite in their respective sports. McNutt and Gatens were both all-conf type performers. The wrestlers and Sowinski were all-am type performers.

    Hard to believe McD is the only student athlete at Iowa with a national championship right now. Guess it's not all that weird, but it seems like there should be more.
