Re: Kids Wrestling Tournaments
I am going to guess that some kid made Duff "toss his own salad" in a kiddie wrestling tournament.
In all seriousness, the parents make the tournament for the kids. I usually ref at my hometown tourney. There have been a few dads that I wanted to strangle, and their kids clearly hated wrestling because of the pressure they felt. Monroe is where this tourney occurs, and I have rarely ever witnessed any real problems.

Why not, because you didn't create it?

Re: Kids Wrestling Tournaments
No because it has nothing to do with this website yes I agree it is very important for parents with young wrestlers but to be at the top of the wrestling forum for Iowa university doesn't make sense to me. Would you expect Jon or spank to stick a thread like this in football or bball forum??posting results to key aaa tournaments does relate to Iowa wrestling because it could be possible recruits in the future. Ppl have complained in the past that I posted ranking for Iowa high school can you imagine for k-8th graders pump??If your looking upcoming aau tournaments simply go to thepredicament.com
sorry hope you understand

Re: Kids Wrestling Tournaments
I actually enjoyed rasslin when I was a kid and was fairly good at it. By the time I was a freshman I was 6-2 and my eyes were too far apart for me to continue wrestling but I still enjoyed it. When I see parents not allowing kids to eat a peice of pie after dinner cause they have a toruney the next day I want to smash. Hes 8, let the bugger eater have pie.

Re: Kids Wrestling Tournaments
Next time, just mention the weight cutting, instead of letting it be insinuated that that you think sending kids to wrestle equals child abuse. Are there tough parents? Sure, just like there is in any sports. I honestly don't know any parents who actually have their young kids (pre k thru 6) cut weight. Does it happen, probably, but it's not as big as you think. Quite frankly, I don't want my kids to cut at all, but once they hit HS, it going to happen. The good thing is that with the way they weigh in now (couple of hours before the meet, instead of in the morning), the old school methods aren't used as much.
You used the word enjoyed, to describe you feelings for wrestling. Hopefully you can make it to the PSU meet, to maybe rekindle that enjoyment.
