After a few weeks of back and forth, it looks as though C.J. Fiedorowicz WILL be visiting after all. That is what Rob Howe of HawkeyeInsider.com is reporting.
Here is a link to C.J.’s player profile on Scout.
Jon’s Take: A few week’s back, CJ’s coach told the Iowa City Press Citizen that he would be honoring his commitment to Iowa…and that the Iowa coaches told him to honor that commitment. You can read the entire story here.
The story as it’s linked now looks a little different than it did when it was first published, because it said ‘U of I’ and now it says “U of I(llinois).” That was a pretty big distinction to make, because many Iowa fans inferred it to mean that the Iowa coaches were the ones saying for CJ to honor his Illinois commitment, and to cancel his visit to Iowa City for the Michigan game.
Kirk Ferentz can’t comment on players by name, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what he was referring to when he said the following on Tuesday:
“I read something recently that we were alleged to have said something to a prospect. None of us remembers saying that.”
Alright, this has a little bit of drama, but that’s recruiting. What is at stake is potentially the next great Iowa Hawkeye tight end. He is 6-7, 240-pounds and through six games had over 900 yards receiving. His high school coach called him a ‘freak of nature’ in the article linked above.
In the end, I think that Iowa is in great position to land this kid, especially since he told how that things are “embarrassing” at Illinois. Hey, that’s the truth but it’s interesting to see a high school prospect say that. We’ll keep you posted.
In the mean time, here is a video that shows the big fella in action right off the bat:
