BOX SCORE

The 4th seeded Iowa Hawkeyes beat the #1 seed of the Houston Regional on Friday night, knocking off the homestanding Cougars 6-3.

Iowa outhit Houston 13-6 in the game as the Hawkeyes notched their 39th win of the season, and they will face #3 seed Texas A&M Saturday night at 7PM.

Houston entered the game ranked 15th in the nation, but the Hawkeyes came into the contest having won eight of their last 10 contests, including the Big Ten tournament in order to play their way into the NCAA Regional round.

Iowa was the lowest seeded Power Five conference team among the 64 in the tourney, but the Hawkeyes continue to play with grit and focus and remain on the winners side of their bracket in this double-elimination pod.

If Iowa beats Texas A&M on Saturday, it would have to lose two straight games in order to not win the regional round.

A 40th would won give Iowa at least that many for the second time in three years, something that has never happened in program history.
