B1G Bracket: Iowa is the Six Seed

March 10, 2019

Written by Jon Miller

The Iowa Hawkeyes earned the six-seed in the 2019 Big Ten tournament, finishing alone in sixth place with a conference record of 10-10. Despite the four-game losing streak to end the season, Iowa finishes six games better in the win column than last year’s 4-14 effort.

Here is how the standings finished, how the tiebreakers were sorted out and what the bracket looks like. Iowa will play the winner of Illinois and Northwestern in the second game on Thursday night, a likely tip-off around 8:25 to 8:45PM Iowa time on the BTN. Iowa finished 3-0 against the Wildcats and Illini this year. Iowa beat Illinois 95-71 in a game where they were 15 of 21 from three (including 12 of their first 14 attempts) and shot 68% from the floor, which broke the Carver-Hawkeye Arena record for field goal percentage. Iowa handled Northwestern in Evanston in their first meeting, without Tyler Cook, then had the miraculous comeback against Northwestern, when Jordan Bohannon hit a three to win it.
