Oglesby Picks Iowa

September 29, 2010

6-5 guard Josh Oglesby (highlight video above) of Cedar Rapids verbally committed to Fran McCaffery’s Iowa basketball program earlier today.  He held a 12:30 press conference at his high school (Cedar Rapids Washington) and made the pick, choosing Iowa over Arizona State and Minnesota, according to Iowa Barnstormers AAU Coach Jamie Johnson.

Iowa had lost a Cedar Rapids prep earlier this year when Jared Uthoff committed to Wisconsin, so Oglesby’s selection of Iowa was much needed and a boost for McCaffery.  According to Rivals.com, Illinois, Boston College, Northwestern, Butler and others had also offered him a scholarship.  He averaged more than 16 points and five rebounds per game last year for Washington.
