Hawkeyes Appear to Be Adding Graduate Transfer Offensive Lineman

What had been speculated about recently appears to have come to pass. Iowa has added a graduate transfer offensive lineman from Indiana.

Coy Cronk showed up Wednesday morning in the university’s student directory. He entered the transfer portal earlier this month.

Cronk (6-4, 325) prepped at Lafayette Central Catholic High. A Rivals’ three-star prospect, he chose the Hoosiers ahead of scholarship offers from Illinois, Iowa State and Vanderbilt, among others.

Indiana started Cronk all 13 games when he was a true freshman in 2016 and then 23 more the nest two seasons. He started the first four games this past fall before suffering a year-ending ankle injury and he took a redshirt. That left him with a year of eligibility.

All 40 of Cronk’s college starts have come at left tackle. While the Hawkeyes bring back three-year starting left tackle Alaric Jackson, they lost No. 1 right tackle Tristan Wirfs to the NFL Draft.

After suffering his severe ankle injury, Cronk, a team captain, became a coach for his offensive line mates last season, which began with him on the Outland Trophy and Senior Bowl watch lists. Indiana won eight games, falling by one point to Tennessee in the Gator Bowl.
