IOWA CITY, Iowa – The end of the regular season went poorly for Iowa. The Hawkeyes dropped their final four games, the longest current losing streak in the Big Ten.

That won’t matter this week when they arrive in Chicago for the conference tournament. They can wash away their recent disappointments and gain moment heading into the NCAAs.

“It’s a new season. That’s just kind of the mindset, focusing on one game at a time,” freshman Joe Wieskamp said.

Sixth-seeded Iowa (21-10) opens play Thursday night (8:30 p.m. CT, BTN) against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Illinois and Northwestern. If it wins, third-seeded Michigan awaits on Friday.

“I think we’re all really excited,” Hawkeye junior Tyler Cook said. “This is probably the most fun part of the year for everybody across the country. We’re super excited to get to Chicago and start playing. That kind of energy will serve us well these next couple of days of practice.”

“It means a lot to me. I have a lot of family that’s going to come to the game and support me, so it’s going to be fun,” he said.
