Hockenson, Hooker, Nelson Waiting to Announce Future Plans

TAMPA, Fla. – Iowa already knows that tight end Noah Fant is leaving early for the NFL. It will find out the fate of three underclassmen in the coming weeks.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson, safety Amani Hooker and defensive end Anthony Nelson have until Jan. 14 to decide if they want to keep their names in the NFL Draft. They’re all undecided.

Hockenson won the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end. Hooker was named the Big Ten’s defensive back of the year. Nelson led the conference in sacks.

The trio was asked about their plans following Tuesday’s 27-22 Outback Bowl victory against No. 18 Mississippi State. None of the guys was ready to announce a decision. Hockenson said he’s about 95 percent sure what he wants to do.
