IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery announced on Wednesday that he would be putting walk-on Riley Till on scholarship for the 2019-20 season.

The redshirt junior from Dubuque Wahlert High appeared in 16 games last season, averaging 1.4 points and 0.6 rebounds in 75 minutes. He played in eight contests two years ago.

“I feel blessed and I thank God, coach McCaffery and staff, and my teammates for always believing in me and pushing me to be my best,” Till said in a university press release. “I am grateful for the constant support of my family as well as the amazing Hawkeye fan base. Being an Iowa Hawkeye is a dream come true and I look forward to getting back to work with my brothers.”

Till pulled down three offensive rebounds, blocked a shot and collected an assist during a key win against then-No. 13 Oregon at 2K Empire Classic game in New York City last November. He played a career-high 20 minutes against Savannah State last season, scoring 10 points and dishing out two assists in the victory.
