Ironmen Movie Hosting Special Casting Event

IOWA CITY, Iowa – If you consider yourself a big Hawkeye fan, boy is there on upcoming opportunity for you. You can help tell the story of Iowa’s Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick and the 1939 team.

That squad is affectionately referred to as The Ironmen, which is also the name of a movie in the works. It tells the story of Kinnick and his teammates, and you can be a part of it.

The Producers of the soon-to-be-made feature film will be hosting a special casting event at Film Scene in Iowa City this Saturday, June 22 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. central time.

Two of key roles for which producers are seeking actors are famed visual artists Elizabeth Catlett and Grant Wood. A 24-year-old Catlett was a student of 48-year-old Grant Wood’s at the University of Iowa at the time.

Performers interested in these featured roles should report to Film Scene on College Street in the Pedestrian Mall in downtown Iowa City. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and the line will be cut off at 11:00 a.m. Participants will do a short reading and be put on tape.

The Producers will not be casting other roles at this time but they will accept resumes and headshots.

The Ironmen is being produced by Joseph Grandy Heath and Matt Zboyovski for The Ironmen Movie, L.L.C. The Producers plan to film in and around Iowa City in late 2019-20.

The film currently is in the early pre-production phase of the filmmaking process. Endeavors include creating schedules, finalizing finances for the picture, hiring creative principals and other activities.

The Ironmen Movie, LLC has partnered with Film Scene and the Iowa City Downtown District to help sponsor and promote the film and its production. The film has formed an advisory group headed by Heath and Iowa City councilman Bruce Teague, and includes representatives the University of Iowa. It meets once a month at city hall.

Producers are working with the United Talent Agency (UTA) to package
the film. The Los Angeles based company represents A-Listers and artists worldwide.

The Ironman Movie, LLC is close to launching its crowdfund campaign to
raise money for the film by selling promotional packages to the premiere.
Producers have negotiated a contract for the premiere to be held in Kinnick Stadium.
