Here is a list to how each of the AP College Football voters placed Iowa on their respective ballots: LINK

We all have writers we enjoy following, or some that have made a name for themselves or some that are well known.

First, I enjoy following Mike Hlas of the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Good guy, funny guy and I enjoy his style. Here is his ballot, where he has Iowa #6. Before some of you cry ‘HOMER’, it’s the same position that Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN/ABC had Iowa, if you look at his ballot linked here.

Last year, Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Journal made a name for himself with his voting style early in the year. He has Iowa at #10.

Chris Fowler of ESPN also has a ballot, and you can see his rankings here. He tabbed Iowa at #12. That’s not something that gets me sideways, because it’s really not a huge deal being 8th or 12th, in my opinion. However, a closer inspection of his ballot does make me scratch my head.

He has Nebraska at #5..something I certainly don’t see, nor would I vote Iowa #5. He has Florida #3, another thing that I don’t see given all that they lost. Then again, I don’t think Alabama is the best team in the nation, either. He has Georgia Tech at #9…

Last time I checked, Iowa dismantled Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. Iowa returns more starters, arguably one of the nations best five defenses, a senior starting quarterback, nearly every skill position player and most of its special teams units. Georgia Tech lost it’s star running back and receiver and its top player on defense. Put them in your top 12, that’s fine. But to have them ranked ahead of Iowa, whether it’s at the bottom or middle of the poll, that just seems curious to me…then factor in that eight pollsters didn’t even rank Georgia Tech & eight more pollsters didn’t have Tech in their Top 20.

Craig James has Tech at #7, Iowa at #13.

Alright, I’ll stop now, or it will look like I am complaining about something that really doesn’t add up to much…but it’s what you get when we still have two weeks to go before football season starts.
