Bryce Mostella is one of the fastest rising juniors in the Midwest. The East Kentwood (MI) High defensive end is picking up some impressive offers.

Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and many others already have jumped in with opportunities. Notre Dame, Michigan State and Wisconsin have shown serious interest.

Iowa threw its hat in the ring back in May. And while it doesn’t regularly beat out the Big Ten’s name brands, it’s positioned itself well with Mostella, who visited campus on Sunday for the team’s annual recruiting tailgate.

“Iowa is definitely in my Top 5 as of now,” he told HN.

The Hawkeye coaches showed Mostella (6-6, 230) that they could provide what he’s looking for in a college program.

“They are a great group and I love there ideals. Their goals are things I can get behind,” he said.

A student of the game, Mostella was interested in learning about how Iowa uses its defensive linemen.

“The best part of the visit was getting to hear about their techniques on the D-Line. It was great to hear what they do and how I can slightly integrate it with my game,” he said.

Mostella spent a lot of time speaking with Hawkeye recruiting coordinator and assistant defensive line coach Kelvin Bell. He learned about the team’s foundation.

“He was saying how they are a developmental program and I would be surrounded by great people to grow me as a person as well as an athlete,” Mostella said.

Mostella said he most likely will come back to Iowa for a game this season. He wants to experience the game-day atmosphere in Kinnick Stadium.

The 247 Network ranks Mostella as a four-star prospect and the No. 13 weak-side defensive end in the country for ’20. Rivals shows him as a three-star and the No. 20 strong-side defensive end nationally in his class.
