Hawks Add Canzeri & Collins

Iowa added a total of four football players to its recruiting class on Monday.

We told you about Johnny Lowdermilk and Damon Bullock in this update from Monday morning (videos included).

Then later in the day and evening on Monday, Iowa picked up commits from RB Jordan Canzeri and LB Marcus Collins.

Here is a link to an item with quotes from Canzeri.  A snippet:  “Canzeri ran for 2048 yards and 36 touchdowns in helping Troy to the Carrier Dome this past season.  In addtional to being the FOX23 player of the year, he was a Class AA first team all-state selection.”

Below, you will see an impressive youtube video clip of Canzeri in action.  He had recently committed to Villanova and then Iowa came through with an offer.  He took a visit to Iowa City this weekend and pulled the trigger.

Marcus Collins is an intruiging story..he was prepared to go and play for Army and also begin the life that goes along with being a part of that program and institution.  Instead, he took the Iowa offer, sight unseen; he’s never been to Iowa City.  Told Rivals.com that he projects as an outside linebacker at Iowa.

Jordan Canzeri Video: Notice his vision and acceleration in the hole. It’s difficult to know the level of talent on the other side of the field in these sorts of clips, but Canzeri makes up his mind and he hits his top gear real, real quickly. Looks much faster and more confident on artificial surface. This highlight clip reminds me a lot of Brandon Wegher’s from his Sioux City days. It’s worth the watch, at least twice.
