Melvin Spears has become the 15th known verbal commitment in Iowa’s recruiting class of 2011. Iowa Recruiting Coordinator Eric Johnson tweeted Friday morning that the Hawkeyes had a new member in the recruiting class, and Rob Howe of HawkeyeInsider.com confirmed that it was Spears.

He had offers from Minnesota and Arkansas State according to Scout.com.
