Rob Howe of HawkeyeInsider.com reported on Monday night that New Jersey linebacker Quinton Alston has given Iowa his verbal commitment.   Click here to look at Alston’s player profile at Scout.com, or click here to see his player profile from Rivals.com.  Both Scout and Rivals rate him a three-star prospect.

Both services list him at 6-1, with Rivals listing him at 234 pounds and Scout at 215; quite a discrepancy, with Scout probably having older data. Rivals rates him as the 21st inside linebacker prospect in the nation

Scout lists Alston with the following offers:  Wisconsin, West Virginia, NC State, Purdue, Stanford, Pitt, Virginia, Boston College and others.  Rivals lists those offers, including more from Minnesota, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Baylor, South Florida and more.

He is from Sicklerville, New Jersey, home of former Hawks Shonn Greene (single season rushing leader) and Leroy Smith (single season sacks leader). He had originally committed to Pitt prior to them making a coaching staff change last month.
