Leading off this Hawkeye Mashup is some items related to Iowa basketball recruiting…

Yesterday, the Press Citizen wrote a story saying Matt Glover would NOT be visiting Iowa this weekend as scheduled, and that an Iowa coach told Glover the reason for that visit cancelation was that they had a commitment.  Still no word on who that commit might be or if it even exists…

On Thursday night, several reporters approached Fran McCaffery at the Linn County I-Club event and McCaffery said that if they felt good about the right three players, they could award all three of their available scholarships but that two was most likely.  You can read the item here.

Iowa could definitely use a point guard in this class, and even if the signing period comes and goes, the McCaffery has shown he can still find available talent; Bryce Cartwright did not sign with Iowa until June of last year, well after the spring signing period.  Cartwright wound up leading the Big Ten in assists last year…

Here are some more links related to McCaffery’s conversation with the media on Thursday:

Anthony Hubbard is a target Iowa would very much like to see commit to the program. Dochterman caught up with his Juco coach on Thursday and you can read that item here. He is now 25 and everything he has said and the due diligence Iowa has performed makes the University comfortable with awarding him a scholarship should he verbally commit to Iowa…Hubbard will announce his decision on Saturday…Hubbard leaves the Juco ranks with a 3.2 grade point average. It will be between Iowa and fellow Big Ten member Nebraska….
