Iowa-Nebraska Trophy Clue

Iowa sent out an invite to media on Tuesday morning, asking them them to attend a 7:15am gathering in Chicago on Friday where members of the Iowa and Nebraska athletic departments will be on hand to provide details of the ‘Big Ten’s newest trophy game’.

That makes sense, as this is going to be a game played every year, we share a border and the two fans bases are incredibly passionate about their football programs.

This has been expected and people have wondered what the trophy might be about…corn has been a popular choice, but I think we can make book that the new CyHawk Trophy is going to involve corn, given the sponsor.

Being that Iowa and Nebraska can each stake a claim to Nile Kinnick, something related to Corn Belt Comet might not be a bad idea?

The invite cryptically has the word HERO on it, then the following definition:  a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities.

Having seen that (and overlooked it the first time), I think something related to Nile Kinnick is a distinct possibility.

Kinnick was born in Adel, Iowa, played summer baseball with Bob Feller and attended Adel high school through his junior year.  Then his family moved to Omaha, where Kinnick earned all state honors in football and basketball.
