HN Podcast: Miller & Deace on B1G Preview & Podcast

August 25, 2013

Written by Jon Miller

It’s game week in college football; the first games will take place in just a few days and Jon Miller and Steve Deace decided to do a Big Ten-centric podcast. The first 15 minutes is Iowa based and the rest touches on the rest of the Big Ten.

The plan is for the two to record their thoughts on Saturday nights immediately following the games, as they’ve been doing that on the phone for most of the last decade anyway. They decided to just record it and toss it into a podcast since that’s what all the cool kids are doing nowadays.

All joking aside, I spend more time in the car now than I have in years and have found myself downloading and listening to several podcasts, especially before going on longer road trips. They are easy to transport and on demand, so I can certainly see the appeal.

If you like the podcast, know that we’ll be doing another one next week. I will work on getting this up on itunes shortly.

First, some Big Ten predictions with the podcast player below

JON MILLER’S BIG TEN POWER RANKINGS

1. Ohio State: This isn’t even close and I don’t recall a time in my life when the best team in the league had so much daylight between it and the next nearest team
2. Nebraska: It’s not because they are great; they aren’t. It’s just that their schedule will have them here.
3. Michigan: Before all is said and done they’ll be good this year and great in 2014
4. Northwestern: I think they’ll be a tougher out than Wisconsin
5. Wisconsin: A lot of questions but they sem to answer them well most of the time
6. Michigan State: We are almost to the ‘because somebody has to be’ point of this rundown
7. Indiana: Return 19 starters off a team that showed life
8. Penn State: I think the sanctions hurt this year
9. Iowa: I think they can be better than this, but for now it is what it is
10. Minnesota: I might say the same about Gophers, too
11. Purdue: This program has taken huge steps back since Cowboy Joe retired
12. Illinois: Beckman will need his sideline Skoal again this year
