Big 10 = 5-3. Big 12 = 3-4. Pac 12 = 2-5.

I thought the Pac 12 seeds and number of teams was ridiculous...and it was. I thought the same about the Big 12...other than KS and OK. And it was. The jury is still out on the Big 10 with 2 upset losses...but other teams with the opportunity for upset wins.

yeah, but the only thing people are gonna see (and somewhat rightfully so) is MSU going down to a 15 seed. btw, how does the big 10 get THREE 5 seeds?

Yes. And of the 4 Big 12 losses how many of those teams were the higher seed?

That's correct. All 4. One was an 8 vs 9 game but the other 3? 6 vs 11 and 5 vs 12 and 3 vs 14.

Love to hear the Oklahoma AD (selection chair) defend that crap. Overseeded AND Overrated.

All 5 Pac 12 losses were with teams seeded higher as well.

You can't really judge a conference on one round of the NCAA tournament. Does anybody really think thank SF Austin is better than West Virginia or that Middle Tennessee is better than MSU? Tonight they were but thats the nature of 1 and done tournament basketball. NBA rules, these game are minor stumbles and the better overall teams will win in a 7 game series easily. But this is what it is. If you don't come with your nuts strapped on tight you're in trouble and MSU, West Virgina, Purdue, etc found out the hard way.

Only people with complaints is ACC. They rolled, the other P5 conferences are 1 big pool of average.
MSU got smoked by a 15 seed, WVU got smoked by a 14 seed.

Lets see where things stand Monday, ACC could realistically have 7 teams in the sweet 16.. That is sic.

This isn't the NBA. But I think 7 teams from a conference is comparable to a 7 game series. This discussion isn't about 1 team or 1 game. It's about several teams and several games. So from a "conference" perspective it isn't 1 and done.

Based on results after round one the PAC 12 was the most overrated conference and the Big 12 the second. The selection committee may have gotten the field pretty much right, but the seeding was not very good. The ACC got some real favorable seeds and brackets. Duke should not have been a four seed in a weak bracket. Notre Dame is another team with a good seed and favorable opponent in round one.

Yes, there are upsets every year. MSU was a big upset. But... No one said the Big 10 was the toughest league this year. decent, but not the best. Seems almost all were saying the Big 12 was best. truth is, the Big 12 has laid big old turds in the NCAA tourney for a number of years. Kansas is the Big 12 in basketball and even they usually under perform in the tournament. When another team besides Kansas finally wins that league, maybe you could start talking about toughness of the league. Until then, it is Kansas and the 9 dwarfs.

And to your point about judging conferences by first round performances..When 4 out of 7 teams in the "alleged" best league lose in the first round to 9,11,13, and 14 seeds, one can't help but come to the conclusion that maybe the league was not as tough as advertised, especially when you factor in that the league has sucked in recent years in the tourney. The reality of modern college basketball is that teams and leagues are judged by NCAA performance. maybe not right but that's the way it is.

Yup and for like the 7th year in a row, the Big 10 kicked their *** in the Big 10/ACC challenge.

5-3 shocks me, not because I thought they'd be worse, but I thought they were losing nearly all of their games. I just made a comment to my wife about the Big 10 and Big 10 being a flop in the tourney. I guess MSU and PU (the BTT finalists) flopping in the 1st round made me think this. Glad to see that the Big 10 is doing well.

However, the Big 12 had a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 seed. Should be 7-0.

Sorry. Help me out here. I'm a little slow. If the Big 10 is 5-3, where am I wrong?

Wins--Michigan, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Maryland
Losses--Purdue, MSU

Exactly. The NBA Finals last year was perfect example of this. In a one and done scenario Cleveland would have been the Champs. The Cavaliers were so depleted it was obvious Golden St. was the better team.

It can tell you lots of things actually, more so than bowl games IMO. Bowl games don't really count or matter, the NCAA games do. It tells me that the Big12 wasn't any better than any other conference out there. Certainly nothing to brag about like Clown fans did all year long.

Also the ACC won't get 7 teams to the sweet 16......they only have 6 teams left in the tournament.
