Newcomers who could contribute to Iowa cause this fall:

I have a feeling it’s going to be LaPorta over Miamen but who knows. They might both get some run as the season goes on.

A lot of people hoping Goodson emerges but as you’ve mentioned before there are three established guys ahead of him.

Any chance true freshman Sebastian Castron (S) gets in on special teams? That guy just seems to have a nose for the football and not afraid to bring the hammer when he tackles.

I was torn on the TEs but went with who was ahead at Kids Day. I'm not counting out Goodson, but retaining his redshirt if possible is the play, IMO. All three of the RBs ahead of him on the two-deep are underclassmen.

I thought Castro would be the guy back in the spring but it seems Belton has passed him for now. We'll have to see what happens.

12 true freshmen saw action last season but only three burned the shirt. I think we'll see a high number again playing in four or less.

I think the RB trio are juniors now but agreed on your points.

What safety spot does Belton play? I know he’s worked at cash some too. In a couple years a Merriweather / Belton safety tandem would be pretty darn fun to watch. High level athletes.

Yes. By underclassmen, I meant not yet seniors. My bad.

Belton was working at SS at Kids Day.
