I only went once as well. Total beatdown by a Fry coached team. It was pretty fun.

Although, this year's ending would've been really fun.

Check out the video by Tyler Cook at the game. It's priceless. I don't have twitter but you can go over to blackheartgoldpants and check out the "big ten power rankings" article and scroll down til you find his video. It's gold.

All other BS aside...can someone explain to me why teams send their marching band to opposing stadiums? The whole concept just seems really weird to me.

My son, a Freshman at Iowa, went to game. He said the many of the fans were pricks. He also said most appeared plastered.

Well aren’t you an example of clowntown forgetting their place. Look at what you’re doing. You’re talking trash about the band. The band. Again, the marching fucking band. Talking shit about the band. You mad bro? Saturday still got ya in the feels??

Where’s the proof? What proof? No video; didn’t happen. Right? Isn’t that what you’re saying?? Cynical piece of shit. Limp your broke down in the dirt dick back to Ames. Population, irrelevant. One more year. Nah, every year. The Hawkeye State. Don’t worry little brother, we saved some cold nachos and Busch Light for your dumbass. Go home boy.

They shouldn’t even have bands at home games.

    1) It’s 2019. We have electricity. And we can use it to power PA systems.

    2) Nobody gets fired up about bands anymore except blue hairs like @HuckFinn in their old timey houndstooth wool overcoats and fedoras.

And to the band nerds out there who might be triggered by my post, you fucking did it yourselves—never forget that. Not one goddamn person in the stands wants to hear your version of Seven Nation Army or The Imperial March for the 749 millionth time.

Pop Warner and Knute Rockne aren’t prowling the sidelines anymore smokin’ darts and dreaming about fighting the Germans in Verdun. Save those seats for fans, you don’t use ‘em for the whole game anyway and 95% of us are pissing or waiting in line for popcorn when you’re on the field doing your cutting edge pep bandy version of a two year old Beyoncé song.

Cheer up Scotty! Thought you'd be used to losing by now. You still have really good water.

Good question. I also want to know if our band played Sweet Caroline at the end of the game.

4 in a row and 5 of 6 for Iowa as far as wins at Jack Trice..so much for the "tough place to play" narrative. Last win for ISU in Ames was 2011.

I say cancel the series. Good chance Iowa State slips back in to sucking and we're asking for it to go away again anyway.

ESPN is on it too. Sure is a lot of smoke for no fire.

Oh well, if ISU wants to come to Kinnick every year and not get home games in the series, their peragative. And good luck getting other power five teams to sign on for games in L'ames, or for Game Day to come back.

Students trampling a soggy field during a downpour alone should have been grounds for some action. ISU is very lucky that didn't escalate into something worse.

These are the same mental midget mentality types that ruined Veisha over twenty years ago. And the city of Ames gave them every chance to clean up their act on that one.

After the lobbying for Game Day in Ames and gaining the opportunity to further expose the ISU brand to the country in a positive light, they are left with...........

..........bad weather that caused an ever lasting interrupted game, a game ending embarrassing punt return miscue (featured in replays over and over in various national media), another ISU loss in the series, and now a brewing harassment story being covered by the Washington Post, ESPN, etc.

The best laid plans of mice and men........only in Ames.

Wow this is a strange attack on the band or bands.

#1 Reason is the UI has a music department with a lot of students learning a lot of instruments. The Band gives them a chance to practice and play as a unit. You know a lot of these students are going to be music teachers.

Oh sorry you probably dont want music taught in Middle and Sr high schools. These students will take their band experience to the high schools.

#2 Music is great. It is great to see and hear the band no matter what they play.

Maybe the band will do a future presentation on the music of the Cars since their lead man just died and they have great music. Or they could do some new pop songs.

#3 The music at Kinnick played over the electricity of the PA system as you call it is too loud for me and I play music pretty loud in my car. And it doesnt matter if they are playing some songs I like it is too loud. Just turn it down a little less than 120 decibels which is what you would think they would do since they have a very well thought of Hearing Center at the U.

I can hardly talk to my friends in the stands the music is too loud and they play it all the time to fill in any down time during commercials.

This is a quality rant, I give it a solid 6 out of 10. But I disagree.

But I love marching bands at football games, to me it's part of football. I have a band geek for a son and he would LOVE to some day play for the Iowa marching band. If nothing else it gets a big chunk of students AT the game, where many of them do choose to watch from their electronic devices from the parking lot while drinking. At CHA thank gawd for the band, most games would be completely dead without them.
