Just saw a tweet that Virginia Tech's Coach, Frank Beamer is supposedly announcing that he will be retiring at the end of the season. Always sad to see a longtime staple on the sideline retiring, but at least he is able to do it on his terms.

Kirk and Stoops will be longest tenured in the county now.

Have heard that Foster isn't "head coach material" after his decade of HC in waiting...

Beamer was a solid guy, great coach. He did wonders at VT and brought an entire attitude change there.

He was one of the good ones. Man, a lot of very good job openings.... Paul is so very very thankful for this.

Richt should be gone, but on the Atlanta sports radio stations, some of the "insiders" are convinced that he will get another year.

Some interesting parallels between Beamer and Fry.

IIRC both 69 when they retired. Both had small school HC experience before getting to the big time. Both HOFamers. Both set bowl records at their schools. Both were under .500 in bowls. Both started out with 2 losing seasons before breaking thru. Both retired after a down year. And both are regarded as quality individuals by the coaching fraternity.
